Well heck, a lot of us are old men, you know what can happen if you get into a fight with an old man who been shooting, practicing, hunting for better than 50 years and figures he hasn't that much quality time left anyway (Old age just don't get better :^)..........Just saying.

“Neocon”? Seriously? “Neocon” is Leftist code for “Jew”. This Leftist expat doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

I can just imaging the orders be given: “Here is a list of all licensed hunters in Pennsylvania, please go disarm them.”

Ya right.

Perhaps not now.

And I don’t mean to denigrate the many fine young men & women out there today.

But I see an increasing number of antisocial, dead-end, under-educated (especially in matters Constitutional) yutes. They might think their government handout is what made this country great. Add to that illegal aliens whose national pride lies elsewhere.

As the numbers of these increase, the calculation changes.

Never mind the traditional military - what if the government saw fit to give these folks access to significant weaponry?

I don’t doubt there are some who might take advantage of the shift in the balance of power, and won’t let mere words stop them.

I keep having occasion to post this, which I keep handy on my FR profile page. I am not happy about that.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - The Gulag Archipelago

Anyone who knows the history of 20th Century tyrants who doesn’t have a basic kit is a damn fool.

Gun? What gun? Oh right, right, right, the pistol and rifle I registered a few years ago? You know about year ago I went hunting by myself and unfortunately had a bit to much beer and somehow lost both weapons in the mountains(forest etc).

I felt so dumb I never even reported the loss to the insurance company. Sorry I can’t help you.

Sure. The ‘state’ has been so successful in stopping gang violence and shootings in inner cities, like Chicago.....

The cop that tries to confiscate my weapons will commit suicide by citizen before I am a victim of suicide by cop!

“If the federal government decides to disarm the public, and when the increasingly-militarized rolls down your street after a not-so-subtle request that you kindly turn over your firearms and ammunition...”

It’s not necessary to be a hard case or even particularly courageous to carry out civil disobedience.

In such a case as the author suggests, millions of firearms will “go missing” to such an extent that three generations down the road they’ll STILL be digging them out of landfills, forest or desert or mountain or swampland caches, from behind walls, bricked up under patios, wrapped in oilskins and hidden in lakes or down drains or in pipes or even cesspools, up in the rafters... to effectively disarm America, the military - assuming they would even execute such an order - would have to quite literally dismantle the nation.

It ain’t gonna happen.

And, to you tough-talking Neo-Cons with your AR-15 rifles and a few thousand rounds of ammo, here is the reality: they will take your guns, and no, all your Second Amendment bluster aside, you are not going to do anything about it.

That's right. They can have them.

My revenge would not require firearms. And it would be terrible. I'm old. I have nothing to lose. It's been a good life.

After the first 200-300 civilians are killed for resisting gun confiscation we will have a somewhat different group remaining. The sheep will line up to drop off their guns but the patriots will then fully understand what’s at stake. There will be fewer of them but they will understand that it’s fight or die.

>> You are not going to take on a platoon of Marines with state-of-the-art automatic weapons and the best body armor you cannot buy protected by armed personnel carriers and attack helicopters

Of course not! Who would even be so silly as to try?

On the other hand, there’s asymmetrical warfare. It’s been refined to an art and the information on how to conduct it is freely available.

I’d hate like hell to have to go that route — but war IS hell and you do what you have to to win.

What guns?

I sold those years ago. Here’s all of the paperwork. You can’t find the buyer? Was he supposed to send me forwarding address in case he moved?

I suppose the same things were said over two hundred years ago about the the British Army.

Never underestimate the power of people who desire to be free.
