Steve Hayes from the Weakly Standard just said on FNC that Paul Ryan is an avid bow hunter, something I never heard before. That makes Ryan very likeable in my book.

Clearly that question has been answered time and again . . . the post above merely confirms what has been expressed many time before.

Some folks just gotta hate . . . and the ones with the weakest, most emotionally based reasoning use their self-professed religiosity as an excuse and a weapon.

We now have two very fine, upstanding individuals running, everything the haters say notwithstanding.

I'm not a big Romney fan, but I do respect him personally and I respect his credentials. With Ryan added to the ticket, I am perfectly happy--not as much as if the top of the ticket was more conservative--but happy.

I think there are some freepers who wanted Romney to pick a liberal female governor of a blue state, so that they can continue to moan and whine about him. I am also waiting for people to claim that Ryan is a Soros stooge on the CFR who is really a Russian manchurian candidate.

Thanks for making my day.

I believe I’ve seen one comment from the ABReOO crowd (anybody but Romney, even Obama’s okay) stating that he’s a bit disappointed that Romney made a right choice and now many people will vote for him with Ryan as a cover.

My other choice for the slot was Marco Rubio and either man would have the advantage of being the right age in 2020 to make a credible candidate.

I think Ryan is the better choice. Some Freepers think Rubio would lure some Hispanic voters away from the Dem camp, but I think that would work about as well as an Alan West candidacy luring Dem black voters, namely not very well at all.

A Rubio candidacy would mainly attract Hispanic voters by an implicit promise of amnesty, or other favorable treatment of Hispanics, and would turn off the conservative base more than it would help with Hispanics.

A VP ‘does absolutely nothing’?

I’m think Dick Cheney might have something to say about that...

I really like Ryan and his ideas and will certainly vote against Obama though Romney does not inspire me. My concern is that Romney is not aggressive enough against Obama, Ryan does not help add any constituency to improve the number voting for the ticket, and just let’s Obama add to his class warfare campaign.

A great contrast can be drawn between a Romney Ryan team vs. Obama Biden.

Intellectual heft vs. the dumbest president in history and the gaffe machine
Sophistication vs. the vulgar Chicago crowd
The exceptional achievers vs. the affirmative action appointed

>>I am concerned that the candidates will look like two nerds in a pod.<<

Our Governor RAN on his Nerd. (superbowl commercial and all) It’s the age of Nerds. Young people think that nerds are smart thanks to “Big, Bang Theory”. They think they are the problem solvers. And these young people who have to stay in school because they can’t get a job know there is a problem.

Remember, these are the same young people that got burnt by the “Popular kid” last time.
Maybe it’s time for a couple of Nerds.

Yes, I am happy with Ryan. I’d love to have seen West on the ticket, as well, but there was never any indication that he was in the running. With Ryan, who better to get a platform to actually articulate the budget? IN the past, he has gotten a couple crumbs and a chance to present it, but never in a full way. Now he should be given more time to actually show its value.

West is still young enough to have a shot at a later date.

Picking Rubio would have moved amnesty up front as an issue, picking Ryan throws it back to the economy, where it belongs.

You’re right. Moreover, the Ryan plan is absurd. It looks reasonable on paper, but the politicians and bureaucrats in D.C. are going to implement something consistently over 20 years? Does anyone really think that we have 20 years to fix things?

Here’s a bumper sticker for the ticket: “Romney isn’t Obama, and Ryan is Smarter than Plugs.”

Exciting, isn’t it?

You can either be relevant to the problems America faces - OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY - we've got a lot of work to do!

But, you see, he's telling us he's getting out of the way. He's refusing to vote for the GOP ticket. Whether he votes for another ticket or abstains is irrelevant. The fact remains, he prefers the possibility of an Obama 2nd term to that of Romney/Ryan. That's as far out of our way as one can get. Useless? Yes. Foolish? Uh huh. And out of the way.

Not gonna happen. If you read my article, you’d see we need to buy time. You go to war with the army you have only if you have to.
