Are these nimrods paying for the elecricity in those spots?

After just now reading the article I posted in the post above yours, it appears that, yes, the person parking in a charging space does have to pay for the service --when it actually works. Appears that despite a $115 million contract from the taxpayers, service is very unreliable.

The "gas guzzler" didn't steal any electricity. As with any parking place, first come, first serve. If they want the charger spots limited to electric cars only, then put a placard in the cars and a sign requiring a placard on the parking space. Same rules as "handicapped" spots. The chargers should have a debit card swipe device to charge for the "charge".

It’s not really the electricity, it’s the “reserved” parking spot that’s probably worth more.

This is equivalent to the stickers that allowed Priuses to use the HOV lanes in California. It was infuriating to watch some stinking Prius with one driver using a lane and cruising past other drivers where everybody else had to have multiple passengers.

Yet another set of well-to-dos angry about not receiving “their” subsidy.
