NEW YORK (AP) When it comes to gays and the Boy Scouts, President Barack Obama and the youth organization he serves as honorary president have agreed to disagree.
The White House on Wednesday said Obama opposes the youth organization's recently reaffirmed policy of excluding gays as members and adult leaders. He has no plans to resign as honorary president, White House spokesman Shin Inouye said.

It would probably be a good idea for the Scouts to discontinue automatically making the POTUS an honorary president. Instead slip in a somewhat nebulous phrase about the POTUS being offered an honorary presidency, maybe, under a set of conditions that would allow them to not offer it.
Dan Savage (sodomite) said there are “Good Pedophiles”....harmless, warm, fuzzy.....obviously Obama believes him, whom am I to doubt?
Obama....please lead by example and contact NAMBLA and find out if they have a boys camp and encourage your staff and cabinet members to send their children and grandchildren there.
Then we'll see just how many the Secret Service will have to shoot to protect them.
I thank Yahweh everyday I have a conscience made firm and true by him.
“Then we’ll see just how many the Secret Service will have to shoot to protect them.”
Then we’ll see just how many “Good Pedophiles” the Secret Service will have to shoot to protect them.
Is mac daddy trolling the waters?
Maybe mac daddy is trolling the waters.
Can you provide support for your assertions?
All the quotes Ive seen include Romney saying that the BSA should make the final decisions re: homos.
So the guy who has these deep commitments to the homosexual agenda.
For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponents record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.

One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
The republican nominee, is asked to defend the Boy Scouts from homosexuals and he says “I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”, and you think that he is against gay scout masters?
Just another reason not to vote for Mittens.
Isn't there more to that quote?
But Romney specifically said that the BSA should include “everyone” and clearly said he meant fags.
He thinks they should allow fags but admits they should follow what is right “for them” iow.
So, since Romney is super pro-fag, he will no doubt continue to follow his “conscience” in that regard.
I hope there is a complete REVOLT at the convention. He is more disgusting than 0kaka. He’s supposed to be “our” candidate!
Merely the politician’s a sentence of pablum before he states his position.
You read that post and still don’t know where Romney is on the homosexual agenda?
Maybe you need to do some soul searching about how far you will go in bending the truth in service to Mitt, or to anyone else.
I had this guy pegged for a probable retread and ozone bait back in the third week of July.
Goodbye, Mr. Anderson. LOL
“Not subtle enough!”
LOL... you have me on the floor.
I think there should be no tolerance for such things. Thankfully, the admins agree.
Thank You for the ping TOL!
But Romney thinks fags should be in the Boy Scouts too. Romney is just as pro-fag as 0kaka. No difference at all.
To the Members of the Log Cabin Club (Romney’s Smoking Gay Gun)
I am writing to thank the Log Cabin Club of Massachusetts for the advice and support you have given to me during my campaign for the U.S. Senate and to seek the Clubs formal endorsement of my election. The Log Cabin Club has played a vital role in reinvigorating the Republican Party in Massachusetts and your endorsement is important to me because it will provide further confirmation that my campaign and approach to government is consistent with the values and vision of government we share.
I am pleased to have had an opportunity to talk with you and to meet many of you personally during your September meeting. I learned a great deal from those discussions and the many thoughtful questions you posed. As a result of our discussions and other interactions with gay and lesbian voters across the state, I am more convinced than ever before that as we seek to establish full equality for Americas gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent.
[His opponent was Ted Kennedy.]
I am not unaware of my opponents considerable record in the area of civil rights, or the commitment of Massachusetts voters to the principle of equality for all Americans. For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponents record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.
We have discussed a number of important issues such as the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which I have agreed to co-sponsor, and if possible broaden to include housing and credit, and the bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide, which I also support.
As we begin the final phase of this campaign, I need your support more than ever. By working together, we will achieve the goals we share for Massachusetts and our Nation.
Sincerely,
W. Mitt Romney
