Morning Joe Panel: Is ‘Bold,’ ‘Mavericky’ VP Possibility Paul Ryan Qualified For The Job?
Media-ite ^ | 8-8-12 | Alex Alverez

The speculation surrounding Mitt Romney‘s potential VP pick continues unabated, with Wednesday’s Morning Joe panel and Politico’s Mike Allen wondering what a Paul Ryan pick might look like — despite, of course, continued “radio silence” from Romney’s camp on the matter.

The question of a Ryan pick, said Allen, points to a bigger question where Romney’s campaign is concerned: “Do you go bold or do what the Romney campaign so far seems to be trying to do, which is just run out the clock on Obama? Now, Ryan would be ‘going bold.’”

Allen adds that they hear that Ryan has really bonded with Romney on the campaign trail, but that selecting him as a running mate would be risky in that it’d give the Obama campaign a “double-edged blade” with his Medicare plan and ties to an exceedingly unpopular Congress.

Mark Halperin noted Ryan’s lack of experience, characterizing him as not ready to be president if the situation would call for it. Andrea Mitchell then argued Ryan is actually “perhaps the most qualified” among the rumored Romney picks when it comes to the economy.

Host Joe Scarborough agreed, giving a rather glowing account of Ryan’s work and confidence, but deciding that, ultimately, Romney won’t go with a “mavericky” pick and will likely choose Rob Portman, or perhaps Tim Pawlenty.

I would rather have Ryan and Speaker with the new Congress and retire Boner to the back benches. We need a strong leader in the House.

It amazes me that Paul Ryan would not be considered “qualified”, yet the current guy in the WH had even LESS experience.

These people never cease to amaze me.

In the liberal mind, no Republican could ever be “qualified” to be President.

Here's a revolutionary thought for the RINO GOPee: (1) Pick an articulate, gutsy CONSERVATIVE like McCain did in 2008, that is Palin. (2) Then, let the conservative campaign for you and don't banish them to Siberia like McCain did.

I submit COL Allen West.

Surprise: Romney wins in a landslide.

Barry STILL isn’t qualified for his job. Especially Constitutionally.

I like West- he would likely help with the FL vote. He would possibly help bring some black voters, and he would be a bold choice. The exact same could also be said for Rubio, by changing the word black to latino. I also like Rubio, but I love Ryan. The downside in choosing Ryan would be his loss to the House, where he is one of the best we have. But Romney will likely go with a “safer” choice, Portman or Pawlenty, or maybe totally surprise everyone. He is almost certain to disappoint conservatives.

Someone who asks this wouldn’t question Biden’s suitability for the position. After all, he’s so much more experienced than Ryan at holding public office. He must be more qualified. /S

Paul Ryan has far more experience than that Senator who campaigned for president the entire time he was in office and voted 'present' because he was afraid to offend anyone. Oh wait, that was 0bama.

Romney/Ryan vs. 0bama/Hillary.. Will the useful idiot females go with Hillary or will they prefer Ryan's baby blues and hair?

Hate agreeing with an ex-conservative like Scarborough, but Ryan is very qualified and would be the best VP choice.

The Incompetent One had no background to be President. He was an obscure State Senator of no particular merit and spent 140+ days in the U.S. Senate and he and some other people thought this Community Organizer was qualified to be President? Unbelievable!!!

God help us if he wins again. His 4 years of incompetence and lazyness is destroying this country.
