As a character, Romney really is quite vapid. The only things to commend him are that he’s neither un-American nor anti-American. I think that he’ll be content to win the presidency. He has no interest in being a “great” American President.
There are cultural, religious, and social traditions that define what it is to be an American, and by extension, our country itself. Mitt Romney has supported and (in his official capacity as Governor) even mandated a wide platform of agenda items which run precisely counter to those American traditions and ideals.
A sober look at his career in politics and public life reveals that he's never earned the label, 'pro-American'.
I've heard lots of Freepers say, "Well, at least he doesn't hate America." Excuse me, but by what objective measure do they qualify that statement?
