NASA's most advanced Mars rover Curiosity has landed on the Red Planet. The one-ton rover, hanging by ropes from a rocket backpack, touched down onto Mars Sunday to end a 36-week flight and begin a two-year investigation. The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) spacecraft that carried Curiosity succeeded in every step of the most complex landing ever attempted on Mars, including the final severing of the bridle cords and flyaway maneuver of the rocket backpack.
Thanks for the link. I missed the live broadcast.
Maybe they can find Obama’s Collage Records and “Long-Form” Birth Cert up there.
Has it started beaming back Obama 2012 messages yet?
Look out for the Martian vote in November.
Next these aliens will be given amnesty. After all, they are the ones to make this trip happen not just NASA.
It does raise a goosebump, but I liked it better when they wore suits and ties and chain smoked!
It’s quite exciting and inspirational for some. A successful landing is a major accomplishment. The United States remains the only country to have done so. Having said that, other Mars landings were equally exciting and inspirational, especially using the bouncing ball technique. However, the excitement is soon forgotten, and one has to wonder if the repeated Mars rovers are the best way to spend money for unmanned exploration.
Big deal. Who cares. I want to see the flick where the show the guy that is taking these pictures. Did we ever get the flag back that we put there in the late 60’s? We did not land there, somebody else did that for us right?
It is very exciting for our company which was started in our basement. My daughter runs the company now and has “stuff” on the rover. She sent me pictures of it last night but I must admit I have no clue as to what it is!

Waste of money.
It would be quite the stirring discovery, if they can actually find definitive proof of life once existing on mars. Not just the chemical composition suggestion of it, or those micro-fossils which are so vague that they could be practically anything. I mean, an actual fossilized appendage of some life form, or a small fossilized insect. Now that would be very interesting and thought provoking.
If you’ve got a Mars lander—you didn’t build that.
***but I liked it better when they wore suits and ties and crewcuts and chain smoked!***
You didn’t build that; you had help. Robert Hall, the local barber and the Marlboro Man!!
