And with that, I’m taking my cute little self to bed. Long, wet, soggy day with nothing accomplished.

Y’all behave!

Tinsmith’s expendable lump of clay.

Is it a technical tinsmithery term?

Yup. And probably the name of a band, somewhere, too.

I had heard it described, and have passed on the concept myself, that a “tinker’s dam” is a small bit of debris or detritus that is used to temporarily block the flow of molten tin when repairing utensils made of tin.

I have since learned that the phrase has been said to have an even more “earthy” origin than my relatively clean version, but I’m planning to stick with the innocent vision it implies.

By the way, T-c, I like the Western Lady Bankers idea. Rather than a truck, you could have the characters dealing with transport wagons for precious metals, as described in the John Wayne movie, “The War Wagon”.

And I don’t have any trouble picturing you as a mule-skinner.

Aw, you say the nicest things to me, Bob.

In the past, I've composed some scenes about this bank manager, who learned to calculate on an abacus while on a long stagecoach ride with a Chinese man. She's very good at figuring return-on-equity.

The "war wagon" idea, with a load of gold, is a good idea. It's supposed to be a Heroic Quest story, so there has to be a substantial "prize" of some kind.

It was a busy scene. The whirring and clicking of the abaci, and the scritch and scratch of quill pens gave a susurrant dignity to the dim interior of the bank.

Outside, wagons and their draybeasts ambled along the dusty street, but here in the economic center of the region, it could have been a typical office in New York City.

The pens would be metal-nib, mass produced. Do you think Colorado would work, or should I have Arizona or Nevada? The California Gold Rush was pre-Civil-War, and I don’t want to go there, I’m not up on the clothes.

You could actually pick an historical site for the setting. A good way to set the “stage” might be to have someone standing in the middle of a ghost town, and then have a flashback.

I like Colorado. ‘Face could probably tell you which locations might work.

Do me a favor and work in how the winter out there is such a terrible burden, and how no one would ever go there in the wintertime just for the fun of playing in the snow.

Something weird is going on here. This is the second day I’ve seen deer out in daylight grazing. One sighting was in a front yard that bordered on a highway. The highway is a busy one. Aren’t deer supposed to avoid humans? Previously, they’ve only been seen at dusk.

Good night and sweet dreams, y’all....

Of course, I’ll be visiting some friends some time this coming Spring, and if there are some “incentives,” I could bring my recipe and make a hugh batch.... That is, if anyone is interested...

I'll clear a spot in the basement...

I know you didn't intend it, but that sounds really ominous.

Darks?

Comical. All that I ever had to say was, “How will you explain those broken fingers to your wife?” Giggle.

Okay, I started off amused, then proceeded to concerned, and now I'm alarmed. Well done, everyone. :)

By extension:
