Well, the anti-Chick-fil-A thing sort of backfired, now didnt it? Yep, the rabid gay crowd thought they were going to shut CFA down, but instead their fascist demands that Chick-fil-As Presidente Dan Cathy repent of his free speech actually catapulted the fast food chain into record profits. Cha-ching!
I have one word for that homo faux pas of trying to stifle a private companys free speech, its: Ahahaha. Boy, you guys really read the pulse of the American people Not.
Now, I will give the onerous gay activists this: Aside from the huge boom in ammo sales since Obama was elected, their boycott of Chick-fil-A actually spurred the first definitive economic stimulus of the Obama era. Muchas gracias.
Look, I knew this anti-free speech/chicken sandwich protest was going to go south when frickin Rahm Emanuel and Edwin Mah Lee got out in front of it. They represent America about as much as I represent PETA. I kept waiting for Mugatu from Zoolander to pop out and join them by slaughtering live chickens in a Foghorn Leghorn outfit while dancing to Do You Really Want to Hurt Me in front of some Chippendale boys. But, alas! It didnt happen. Who can I sue?
If theres one thing I know about Americans its that they love Chick-fil-A and free speech. I guess that would be two things. And Americans peacefully showing up in the hundreds of thousands last Wednesday to Chick-fil-A restaurants from sea to shining sea showed anyone with a lick of sense that Americans are not quite ready to bow and kiss the ring of a special interest group that wants to mitigate other peoples rights to freedom of expression just because they dont kowtow to theirs.
Which brings me to this query: Whats up with this BS that weve got to agree with someones view of gay sex before we can buy or sell chicken sandwiches? When did that edict get passed? Were damn close to making Seinfelds Soup Nazi look like the most rosy, easygoing consommé ladler around.
And finally, how come the gay activists got their national dander up over Chick-fil-As exec not being down with Brad and Chad getting engaged, yet I havent heard them say diddly squat about their intentions to stage a national Kiss In at any American mosque or give the hundreds of black pastors who vehemently oppose gay marriage the same crap theyve been giving Chick-fil-A. Whats the matter? Youre not scared to take them on, are you? Youre not chicken, are you?
I think this past August 1st is a foretaste of whats coming this November 6th. Its all about freedom for all, baby, and you dudes dont get it. But Americans do. And they showed up in droves and waited in hot lines for hours to demonstrate they will not be bullied.
Me too. All this talk about it has made it a cult thing. It's like the Christmas toy everyone's talking about. "I WANT ONE!"
I asked her what they were hoping to accomplish with their attacks and demonstration against Chick Fil A. The gist of her reply was they believed by going public and being very loud about what was said re support of conventional marriage by the owner of the company, many so called moderates would turn off to the company and not go there any longer. They also surmised their own “kiss in” would keep “intolerant” people from going to the locations and would cost the company business and of course profit.
The support for Chick A Fil according to her “totally surprised and devastated” the gays who really believed they could do damage to the company. She acknowledged also the response demonstration they planned was an abysmal flop and drew a tiny fraction of what they had hoped for.
The Left and their perv supporters were nationally bitch slapped twice in the same week and it was a thing of beauty to witness and will forever be a joy to recall their epic failures. These events did indeed renew my belief there is in this country still a “silent majority” one who for the most part is a live and let live kind of people and slow to anger but a force to reckon with when angered. They are IMO unstoppable when they rise up to fight a threat to their core beliefs and very existence.
especially for your institution, to cause another very public controversy by acquiescing to a small group of sodomites having a temper tantrum?
Thank you for using the proper term for these people, sodomites. Gay is a word we should put back in our lexicon for happy and care-free.
All franchise operations keep a transaction count in order to judge peak traffic times and in the case of Chik A Fil have enough product ready to sell quickly.
I would be very interested in seeing a comparison of the transaction numbers for an average day and Wed Aug. 1st when all those supporters of free speech showed up.
If conservatives voted their wallets as they’ve done with Chick-fil-A they would have more power. An example is the NYT. A coordinated boycott of a few of the Time’s top advertisers could put that rag out of business.
Who are the NYT’s top advertisers? Does anyone know?
Yes, take back “gay”. I prefer homo, but sometimes I use a** f******z.
Lots of people pointing out that they don’t have a CFA in their town.
Maybe Dan Cathy should adjust his market strategy to focus on these towns instead of colleges and cities. Just an observation.
Eat more crow.
Put a list of these colleges online, or here on FR, as “American Colleges and Universities that condone gay marriage and free speech censorship”.
Any school that stifles free speech and chice is teaching our kids the wrong lesson about America, and life.
“agree with us or you can’t eat”...that’s their ultimate goal...hey, worked for Hitler...
I talked to my daughter and son (grads of UIllinois) about their Chick-fil-A and how the students were trying to get it shut down, and was told that situation has been going on for quite some time, because of who Cathy donates to. In other words, it didn’t start with Cathy’s pronouncement.
I find it interesting that both Obama and Hitler call the
people-”Folk”
It was 150/200 percent higher than their average highs.I’m told that system wide they had 4 million customers that day.
That is really amazing!! What a message that sends.
Thanks for the info.
I'm not, because I don't believe it's a coincidence.
I would encourage anyone who is a college graduate to contact their Alumni Association to encourage their college NOT to fold to the homosexual activists and deny CFA it's rights to 'freedom of expression'. If they kowtow to the homosexuals, they can deny ANYONE the right to operate a business on campus.
I read that, and I intend to write a letter to the interim President, Dr. Aubrey Lucas, to give him my opinion of her statements. I’ll also encourage him to stand firm in continuing to allow CFA to do business on campus, which the Administration has already stated it would do.
The difference is, Bush was sincere while Obama uses it when he is lecturing us poor idiots who don't understand that the Government is our friend and protector against the Republican Meanies.
Precisely. I've been in a discussion with one of my older sons and a niece and nephew online about this. The problem is that too many, but especially young people, equate opposition to homosexual marriage with HATE, because that's what pop culture has taught them. Just about every TV show geared towards young people portrays liberals as the ones who want peace and love, and Christians as those who just want to be hateful because they oppose what the liberals want to do.
There is no logic or reason behind their notions, even though they try to argue that way by saying that CFA is fair game because the owners donate to certain groups. I countered that argument with the fact that there are many major corporations that have foundations created by their owners that donate to causes that I don't like, but I don't think they are haters simply because they have a different political opinion than I do. I do not even attempt to argue on a basis of religion, because that is a non-starter with young people as a whole these days. You have to talk to them where THEY are, or they simply don't listen.
We live about 80 miles from Tucson. We had to go up there yesterday on an errand. When we do that, we usually grab lunch at a place we don’t have at home.
Yesterday, FrogDad suggested CFA for lunch, a first! He had me query the GPS to find one, it took us over 20 miles out of our way. They were busy but the service and food were good.
We’ve been married over 42 years and he can still surprise me.
