I am sure that some here will be very happy if Romney gets defeated.... and by the time they realize that this REALLY means that Obama is reelected, it will be too late.

Romney sucks. Too bad the RNC can’t find it in themselves to support an actual Conservative.

Reminds me of a famous columnist in NYCity who couldn’t understand why Nixon had won, when everyone she knew had voted for McGovern.

Yeah, nobody but you is smart enough to figure any of this stuff out huh. /s

What I’d like to ask jokers like you is this. After Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain, and now Romney, just how many decades did you expect Conservatives to wait for a reasoned Conservative candidate before telling the party to F O? Three, four, sixteen? Give me a number.

At this point the earliest chance we have to install a Conservative is January 2017, and we all know that isn’t going to happen unless Romney does lose now.

I happen to expect him to win. That means the next real chance we have is January 2021, and that’s only if Romney doesn’t pull a George Bush on us before then. In that case we’re looking at January 2025 or even 2029 at the earliest. Ain’t that just swell! 36 to 40 fricken years after Reagan.

That’s three and a half to four decades with Leftist Republicans and far Left Democrats holding power.

And here you are dancing to the tune of, “Love me, Love me, One more time...” as sung by the GOPe.

Tell us, do you want this nation back or what? If not, just be up front about it and quit this pretend stuff.

Here’s his bio...

I know it’s wiki, but wiki is much more conservative than he is.

Fortunately, that number is few and dwindling.

Anyone who doesn’t see the clear and distinct difference between Obama and Romney is living in an alternate universe. At present, Obama is slowly dismantling our country. If he is reelected, he will have no restraints on what he can and will do. There won’t be a Conservative at some future date. What was a great country will be gone, and there will be no way to get it back.

This guy is full of CRAP Every Poll. he sights shows Obama BELOW 50% in the polls. Beating Romney isn't good enough for an incumbent. HE has to beet his first term. He must show a reason to be reelected. Obama doesn't have one!

I won't be happy if Romney gets defeated. However, I won't be happy if Romney wins either.
By his own words he's a moderate and his views are progressive.
Or was he just saying what was politically expedient back then?

You really can't grasp why conservatives are so set against the man, can you?

If all you've got is "vote for him 'cause he's not Obama" then that's not much of a draw.
I'd rather the nation go to the dogs at the hands of a Democrat than at the hands of any Republican, even a moderate, progressive one.

Shouldn’t Romney be bending over backwards to get the conservative vote?

Instead of the etch-a-scetch attitude?

And if Romney loses, who then is really to blame?

Possibly Romney or are you going to come crying about it to me?

As usual, nearly 100 posts and not even a mention of ONE specific action that Hillary Romney intends.

Maybe it’s because an already, by intention, dismantled representative government, is ready for the real crackdown on the We The People, with Massachusetts Hillary Romney.

Last chance, will be to nullify Hillary Romney at or before the Fall convention.

Interesting, if kinda scary, article. I think Romney’s chances are considerably better than Tomasky’s take, though I also think any Romney victory is likely going to be close, electorally speaking.

I’ve been saying for months we need to get any notion of a 1980-esque GOP landslide out of our heads. The numbers, and the demographics, just aren’t there. A victorious Mitt Romney will probably have something closer to Dubya’s 2004 EV win than anything else.

As for an Obama landslide...it could happen, but I really don’t think it will. This isn’t 2008, and Romney, flawed though he is, is fighting far harder than McCain ever did. It may not be enough, but I think it will be close right up until the end.

If Romney loses, we will have the Dick Cheney/Karl Rove establishment types tell us (themselves actually) that it was because his VP coice was a mistake for the ticket.

Dick Cheney has jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned...Was his last surgery for a lobotomy or to remove his heart?

Obama will not gain a single vote more than he got last time.

No one that voted for McCain will vote for him.
He will not get 98% of the black vote because of his pro gay stances.
He will not get the percentage of white male votes, now down by some 31% with white men.

The shifts that will naturally occur will swing several states.

It is never as close as the media wants it to be.

As horrible as Obama is to America; (being radical), we would not be in this dilemma if not for the ruling class wanting a fake conservative as the party's leader. You need a person at the top for the majority of the people to respect. Romney hated Reagan in the 1980's. He does not deserve to be the nominee due to Romneycare. What a mess but it's the truth. It's a shame he maybe rewarded for that and his pro gay marriage stance. He needs to be replaced at convention so the base will come out. It will be a close election with the fraud, look for the dems with the advantage. The GOP done this-we should have had a strong candidate that would get the base excited. No wonder the dems have hope and a strategy. I don't see Romney turning social issues around nor Obamacare. He still feels he did right by banning the Boy Scouts at the Olympics.

1. Gallup has Obama up by 2 (registered voters)

2. Rasmussen has Romney up by 2 (likely voters)

3. "A president’s Job Approval rating is one of the best indicators for assessing his chances of reelection. Typically, the president’s Job Approval rating on Election Day will be close to the share of the vote he receives. Currently, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) at least somewhat disapprove (see trends)." - Rasmussen Reports

Going over the electoral map, if Obama carries every state where his approval is over 50% and Romney carries the rest, it should be Obama 185 Romney 353.

Not Reagan or Bush 41 landslide territory, but a margin of 168 EV.

I think the author of the article is nuts. My state is not "in play", so I may vote for Johnson and Republican for everything else. If it was going to be close I'd vote for Romney in a heartbeat.
