Neal Boortz is a Texan, a lawyer, a Texas Aggie (Texas A&M) graduate, and now a nationally syndicated talk show host from Atlanta . His commencement address to the graduates of a recent Texas A&M class is far different from what either the students or the faculty expected. Whether you agree or disagree, his views are certainly thought provoking.

A right-on speech, but I doubt if he’ll ever be asked to do another one.

Neil is RIGHT ON! Most of the faculty at our august institutions of “higher” learning (upwards of 95%) have never spent a day in the REAL world and thus haven’t the most remote clue about what really takes place out there. All they have is their ivory tower assumptions which are almost universally incorrect!

As I read, I thought it was either Rush or Neal Boortz speaking. Brilliant!

I bet that's a speech those graduates will always remember... While the faculty must have been in rage, I must credit them for inviting a well known conservative-libertarian speaker. I know, that's his almamater, but I'm not sure Ted Cruz would be invited to give commencement speech at Harvard anytime soon...

Sorry, this was written a piece by Boortz, not an actual speech.

Although it is very good.

Absolutely best commencement speech ever written— but never delivered.
speech is from a book Neal Bortz wrote in 1998, and NOT AN ACTUAL SPEECH HE recently gave at TEXAS A&M

A disclaimer would have been appropriate.

good speech. Those who were deathly silent, they need to lose their positions as faculty since they are so out of touch.

Neal Boortz announces retirement after more than four decades in radio, replaced by Herman Cain.

While reading this, I came up with what I think might be a good tool for teaching young people the idiocy of “diversity”.

When you meet someone new, and are considering whether you might want to have them as a friend, do not consider whether they are polite, friendly, well groomed, well mannered, intelligent, and/or funny. Your only concern should be how they would enhance the diversity of your circle of friends.

Absolutely best commencement speech ever written-- but never delivered.

Was not clear at first. It is a great speech, but it was not really given. Should have been.

What a great speech! He should be brought in to speak to every single graduating class of every university!

It’s a great speech everyone should memorize. And when anyone talks about the rich it should be noted that usually the rich need to hire people to become rich and stay rich. That doesn’t click in people’s minds and it’s the reason that they don’t think of the rich as job producers.

In other words, the rich don't get rich by themselves. They have to hire people. The phraseology has to be right to effectively teach people.

And it is nice to bash liberal professors. They deserve it. He uses the phrase those who can't do, teach. But there is something to be said for those who teach effectively. Some just don't have the skill.

Your link says, “Absolutely best commencement speech ever written— but never delivered.”

“speech is from a book Neal Bortz wrote in 1998, and NOT AN ACTUAL SPEECH HE recently gave at TEXAS A&M”

So I’m guessing he didn’t really get a standing ovation, given that he never delivered this speech.

Great read though. I was really with him all the way until I found that your link said he never delivered the speech. Shame. It would be something to see this speech delivered to a bunch of starry-eyed, mush-minded liberal students. Be something 20 years later if they ever thought back on it.

Being that it is a fantasy commencement, it is still a great read for a conservative. Must read, really.
