NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Tennessee Democratic Party is disavowing the winner of the party's nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Bob Corker in November, saying the little-known candidate belongs to an anti-gay hate group.
The winner of the seven-candidate Democratic primary, 35-year-old Mark Clayton, reported raising no money and campaigned little but received more than 48,000 votes. . . .

“This will be the second time since 1998 that (in TN) the Dem nominee was more Conservative than the GOP incumbent candidate.”
Good point. Once in a blue moon, there are cases where the ‘Rat candidate is the better choice. The 2000 race between Lincoln Chafee and a pro-life DemocRAT is one such example, and Lindsey Graham’s 2008 reelection over a Libertarian DemocRAT is another. Lowell Weicker vs. Joe Lieberman in 1988 is arguably another still. Perhaps this is also such a case, given that Lamar Alexander is such a mediocre Senator.
Wasn’t Bob Wegland to Chafee’s left on everything besides abortion? No way should anyone have voted FOR him with the rats (or ANYone with a D) threatening Senate takeover that year. Blank ballot.
And this guy in TN is a nutbag not a normal conservative, Corker is nowhere close to bad enough to even consider supporting some random kook with a D.
Not that it matters cause half of FR could endorse him and Corker would still win 75%.
I endorsed Weygand over Chafee in 2000 and simply refused to endorse either in ‘06 (one reason being that I knew Chafee would eventually switch parties, which I was proven right over). He is absolutely vile and making his stripes as Governor, where he has gone full-blown moonbat (although he has competition from Malloy).
Democrats are whining here in TN how they should get a “do over” in the Senate race. Hard to take that seriously when Clayton won with twice as many votes as the second and third place finishers.
I want a do over in Michigan 11. That’s some BS. If that happened in Conyers seat and only a White challenger was left on the primary ballot some judge would have reopened filing.
Thanks alot McCotter!!!!!!
