We “forgive” those who contritely ask for it. We can “let go” of our hurt or resentment for the rest.

Even Jesus showed us this when He said why we were to forgive seventy times seven. Forgiveness requires repentance.

I beleive if you read the Bible you’ll see that Christ said to forgive your enemies. He didn’t say they have to come and ask first.

He said “Before the father will forgive you, go first and forgive those who have harmed you.” AGain, didn’t say anything about being asked to forgive.

We forgive for our peace of mind whether they want it or not.
