And the days not over yet.
Somewhere, a Burger King ad mans toying with the idea of having The King declare himself 100% pro-life.
@dancathy just called me. #ChickFilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hrs to go in the West. #OutOfChicken

Not a word about todays activities has been whispered on Chick-fil-As feed even though CFA has been trending on Twitter off and on all day. As noted in the earlier post, the suspicion is that the companys lying low about whats happening in order to extricate itself from the front line of the culture war, but I wonder if todays outpouring will draw some sort of recognition tomorrow. If Dan Cathys willing to tout the numbers to Rick Warren, presumably an official acknowledgment and thank you is on the way.
Theres no shortage of local news stories out there about huge lines at the neighborhood CFA; if youre curious, these two, from Iowa and Kentucky, are fairly representative. Meanwhile, I assume some sort of Unappreciation Day is in the works on the left, if only to respond to such an impressive show of strength, but I dont know. Could be that, between this and the thuggish idiocy of Rahm and Mumbles Menino, theyre ready to cut their losses. Exit question: How big a political victory is this for Huckabee? Per this Fox News clip (via Mediaite), even he sounds surprised.
They were prepared but this was way beyond their expectations.
I went to one on the western suburbs of STL this evening. At 8PM the line was almost out the door. The drive-up line snaked around the parking lot, spilled out on to the street and wrapped part way around the building.
Going inside, a manager greeted everyone at the door, saying please excuse the slower service. It looked like they called in every crew member of all shifts. The kitchen was full of people. The counter crew was a bit frantic but did their job and in the end service time was within the range of normal.
I was pleasantly surprised that product quality was fine.
The mood of the crowd was happy and surprised neighbors greeted each other. The only difference when I left was the drive-up line was a bit shorter.
The freedom to speak your own mind is the most precious right we have in this country. Any pol who even hints that we must bend the law to punish people with unpopular opinions must be impeached.
In other news. In the UK, a person is put in police custody for tweeting something that was impolite and inconsiderate, but certainly not suggesting anything vile or violent.
see:
“Dorset Police said the 17-year-old boy was held at a guest house in the Weymouth area on suspicion of malicious communications and later bailed.”

They showed on the local news today lines around the block to get into every Chick-fil-A in my city!
Chick-fil-A, 8875 Tampa Avenue, Northridge, Los Angeles, CA, August 1st, 2012, 12:00 Noon. Line is all the way around building.
True. I had a brief discussion today with a friend about this.
The backlash is getting bigger by the day. People have had it with the liberal bull crap.
Net result is destruction. It's time patriots learn that being nice isn't going to achieve the ends they seek. |
The only thing that surprised me is that Rick Warren used the event to worm his way back into the spotlight. I expected Rick to pop up somewhere, but not here.
We had a lovely lunch there today. The place was packed, the people were polite, the crowds were happy. They had people out in the parking lot and street directing traffic. The CFA also handed out coupons for a free sandwich, so the manager obviously wants to keep any new customers coming back.
My local news did a story on the crowds, and had the obligatory “other side” with an interview with a gay activist. They mentioned that he had a project going for something or other.... didn’t care enough to listen..... but they did mention that he has managed to raise...... $700!!!!
Both Mr G and I laughed out loud.
If everyone goes back to CFA on Friday, they’ll get to see Barry Soetoro’s All Star Tonsil Hockey Team. Those guys are always good for a few laughs.
Exactly right, at least in my case. I went to CFA for breakfast (had work to do, didn't want to wait in long lines), but not because I have any strong opinions about gay marriage. My purchase was entirely as an "up yours" to the hate-mongers who incessantly try to force their beliefs on us all.
Allow me to add that I am at a loss to think of a parallel spontaneous statement by the left. The scope of this protest must leave any leftist with half a brain stunned for what it indicates about November and what the country thinks of the left.
My girlfriends and I are thinking of showing up with sheets. We will stand in front of the kissers and block the view of their disgusting behavior.
If you really want to spaz them out ask them this...
If you and your partner were not having sex, youd be just considered good friends, no different from two people sharing a residence for financial reasons. So that being the case and the fact that your brand of sex cannot result in having children, can you please explain to me why it is that people should be granted special privileges, benefits and rights based solely on the type of sex they are having?
This also works great to ask of reporters during interviews.
Or just carry a sigh that says “GAY PORN PHOTO SHOOT” and stand behind them with it ;)
Since the Freaks are actually closer to 2% of the population than the 20% the media wants folk to believe, Straits should just show up and outnumber them with normal strait couples smooching.
Didn't the baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple get a ton of business.....I thought I saw this here on FR last week..
What a crock. They entice you there thinking you’ll read more about this world record - then tell you NOTHING about it.
If we could get everyone that went to CFA today to go vote in Nov, it would be the largest landslide in history.
That sounds unloving, what ends and means do you have in mind?
Half a brain?! A Liberal?! And that would be . . . whom?
