I lived on PI in 1964-65 as a 13 year old. It was my father’s last duty station before retiring.

Let me tell you that things were hopping there. They were running through a huge number of recruits due to the escalation in Viet Nam. Which was where my father served before coming to PI.

My father was a boot there in WW2, a DI there later in the war, and retired from there in 1965. A Marine of exemplary patriotism and *honor* until he died in 2003. Few of our “leaders” today would be fit to polish his boots.

“Few of our “leaders” today would be fit to polish his boots.”

When I was in the Marines there were many senior NCO’s just like your father still in, or getting ready to retire. From personal observation I’d say your comment is 100% spot on.

Thanks, ChildOfThe60s, for sharing about your father.

We thank him for his service to our country.
