The controversy caused by Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy's interview, in which he said the company was "guilty as charged" for making large donations to anti-gay causes, has not been good for the restaurant's brand, GLAAD reports:
Chick-Fil-A and the Top National QSR Sector were measured with YouGov BrandIndex's Index score, the company's flagship brand health measurement.
The Index score is an average of key scores measuring quality, impression, value, reputation, satisfaction and willingness to recommend. All measurements were filtered for adults 18+ who have eaten fast food in the past month. The Top National QSR sector average includes such brands as Pizza Hut, Arby's, Papa John's, Domino's, Taco Bell, KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, and Long John Silver's.
Chick-fil-A's index score has dropped 26 points since Dan Cathy's interview:
YouGov BrandIndex measurement scores range from 100 to -100 and are compiled by subtracting negative feedback from positive. A zero score means equal positive and negative feedback.
On July 16th, the day the Baptist Press published its Dan Cathy interview, Chick-Fil-A's Index score was 65, a very substantial 19 points above the Top National QSR Sector average score that day of 46.
Four days later, Chick-Fil-A had fallen to 47 score, three points below the Top National QSR Sector average score of 50. This past Wednesday, Chick-Fil-A had a 39 score compared to the Top National QSR Sector average score of 43.

I have been on the YouGov panel of “experts” for quite a while. I consider their polls and conclusions slightly better than worthless. Took one this morning. Nothing about Chic-Fil-A, but when I got through with the one they sent me, they had a propoganda sheet touting the serious impact this was having on Chic-Fil-A.
On a side note, my wife and I stopped at one in north Knoxville, TN last Friday at ~3:30 p.m. Drive through crowded when we arrived and when we left. Dining room full. Employees humping to keep up. Managers having to actually work to help keep the chicken and fries coming. Go Chic-Fil-A!
Thanks for the quote... and thanks for backing up my gut feeling. The “survey results” are about as reliable as teenage gossip.
And do you know how to post photos? I had one hell of time failing in my attempts.
Everything is good at chick fil-a - the grilled chicken is good, salads are fresh, chicken salad is good too but spicy is best!
You are correct as far as I can tell. I just came from the local CFA and it was very busy. For 3:00PM, it was extremely busy.
How are they getting these numbers? Because when I went to Chick-fil-A a couple of days ago (Sat.) it was packed with a line out the door! I would say they will have record revenue....
I’ve already written a note asking for one to be built in Eagle Rock... the liberal home of Occidental College!!GO CHICK-FIL-A!!!!!
Yeah, Chick-Fil-A is so hated that when I went to one of their south Florida locations today the drive thru line was wrapped around the building and the parking lot was 70-80% full.
Hated indeed.
Well, thank GOD it was a TOTALLY UNBIASED, absolutely UNINVOLVED party like GLADD.
Because NOW we can believe all these so-called polls and surveys. After all, polls and surveys are impossible to jigger for desired results.
And GLADD is utterly impartial.
Y'see.
Thank you for that.
I did today in Suffolk, VA. They can flash all the charts they want, but the business bottom line is what counts, and they're not going to be hurting.
Watch their 3Q profits!
I’ve been increasing visits and will tell you they are more crowded than ever.
Hope their October financials report a huge increase!
“Employees humping to keep up.” could you PLEASE use ANOTHER phrase ro descibe this action.
Oops! Thanks for the correction. It was SATURDAY night when they went: from Randolph, NJ to Woodbridge, NJ. They said it was doing great business.
YES. I tried to go on Saturday, and it was mobbed. The cops were there directing traffic. The parking lot was absolutely jammed, and people were parking at a nearby mall and walking over.
People are voting with their wallets, it seems.
I’d pay more attention to monthly or weekly sales figures than some leftist “survey” quoted by the happy boys at GLADD - Chic-Fil-A is, by all accounts, hitting it out of the park as we speak.
Personally, I applaud any company, anybody really, that is willing to stand up to the fagofascists in their quest to “normalize” abnormal behavior.
I’ll be at Chic-Fil-A tomorrow, and if any fruits stand in my way, I’ll push them aside. If they touch me, I’ll deck ‘em.
So go in and buy gift certificates. They make great gifts for young people and you don't need a table to buy them.
I dont agree with their perspective, but its interesting to get conservative reactions, which are always shrewd and intelligent.
Yeah, and most guys read “Playboy” for the articles.
Gays can get rid of Chick-fil-A for good by perverting every rooster in the nation into gay sex with other roosters and chickens on chickens lesbianism. Results would be no more eggs or chicks. Problem solved and gays win, eheheheheheheheh. Any rooster who breaks the rules with a hen is charged with a hate crime and subject to circumcision.
If Chick-Fil-A was a public company, I’d be buying the stock.
They will prosper long term over this.
I hope their employees have profit sharing.
