In 2004, as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney banned the sale of assault weapons like the one used to spray 50-60 bullets a minute in the Colorado massacre.
On FOX News, Romney explained his position as follows:
"I believe the people should have the right to bear arms, but I dont believe that we have to have assault weapons as part of our personal arsenal."
That seems like a perfectly reasonable position, no?
(Seriously: Do we really need to be able to buy and own these things? Is that really in the best interests of our society? Really?)
Unfortunately, in the intervening years, Romney has flip-flopped and now supports the sale of assault weapons like the one used in the Colorado massacre.
But the families of those who were shot and killed in the theater can presumably take some comfort from the fact that Romney was against these guns before he was for them.

I am embarrassed when I see her kind of bigotry on this site.
Agreed.
Obama team sees promise in 3rd party candidacies

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama’s re-election effort is paying close attention to two candidates mounting third-party campaigns for the presidency, believing they could draw votes from Republican rival Mitt Romney and help Obama win a few tightly contested states.
One candidate is Virgil Goode, a former conservative Virginia congressman who is running as a member of the Constitution Party. The other is Gary Johnson, a former two-term Republican governor of New Mexico who is the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee.
Obama’s team has scenarios whereby Obama can win states like Virginia and Colorado with less than 50 percent of the vote, with an assist from Goode and Johnson.
That's a rather pathetic rate of fire to call a "spray"... but then again, journalism majors don't need any measure of accuracy or realism in gun stories, so I guess it doesn't matter. :^/
Ok; you proved the prophet one; but can you PROVE the bigot one?
No; I don't.
Can't you just IGNORE my stupidity?
My lack of reading comprehension??
My lame excuses???
In my opinion you are getting steamed over a personality flaw that I have.
I probably do the very same thing to others here; but none of them have complained about it.
Pray for me and go on; as we ARE on the same team.
"...publically and vociferously hated the Mormons."
I'm sure an outstanding individual could refer to a post or two to prove their point; right?
Not to worry; for I’ve thought about being scattered like Dixon over those beautiful rocks when the time comes.
Then I'm sure that ONE of you two could point it out for the lurkers that may have missed it; right?
HMMmm...
We may have a couple of them posting in THIS thread!!
If you are deeply religious and quoting the Bible, that’s fine. But “ephiany”? That’s why I was mocking you.
Given your choice, would you have separate drinking fountains for Mormons? I cannot see you drinking from a fountain just used by Romney. You would probably rather dehydrate, right?
"I pity a man who can only spell a word one way."
“sorry but a no vote or independent vote is a vote for the fraud in the WH”
That’s an irresponsible and incorrect thing to say.
Are you this judgemental ALL the time?
FWIW I've plunked my lily white butt down on a toilet that was probably used by a MORMON just moments before and didn't use one of those seat doilies available while visiting Temple Square®.
I find you to be quite the accuser, who supplies no evidence for his charges.
Following the summation babble of we lawyers; I expect the jury will decide, after all.
“Bashing Romney actually hurts our chances for a GOP takeover of the Senate.”
Because of 1 seat taken by the VP? That’s a weak argument.
We’re bashing LIBERALISM on FR regardless of party affiliation. Deal with it!
