The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 49% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 44%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

The numbers are similar to the 49% to 43% advantage Romney enjoys on the question of who is trusted more to handle the economy.

If this was anyone OTHER than Mr. RomneyCARE, himself, the difference would (GOP + 25%)

The time for woulda-coulda-shoulda is over. The SoCons didn't like Newt, and the fiscal conservatives and libertarians didn't like Santorum, so Romney is who we got.

I have been politically involved since working for Barry Goldwater when I was 16. Am definitely not stupid and not a cheerleader for Romney, but am smart enough to recognize that this republic will be unrecognizable if Obama gets another four years. Those who do not recognize that are the ones who are stupid and disgusting. Or perhaps delusional.

Doug, I look at it this way.

My own enthusiasm for Romney approaches my enthusiasm for a root canal or a prostate exam. But sometimes root canals and prostate exams are necessary to avoid bigger problems down the road.

Adblock website:

http://adblockplus.org/en/

As the name implies, it is primarily for blocking annoying ads, and comes preloaded with a huge list of known advertising sources.

You can create custom filters for stuff that it doesn’t catch. If an image annoys you, you only need to left click on the image, the menu that opens up has a selection “Adblock Plus: Block Image”, and that opens a window in which you can select the image itself, all images in that directory, or all images from that website. Three or four clicks, and you never see that image again.

Yes, my friend, I don’t like the nominee but we are faced with giving a man four more years to finish the destruction of the country he and his wife hate. He will succeed in that destruction if give the chance.

My hope is that, if Romney wins, real elected conservatives will hold his feet to the fire and make him do the right thing.

Perhaps I actually have the luxury of voting my conscience. California is lost. With the RAT majority, I really don’t even have much chance of having a voice in state affairs. Maybe a massive earthquake gets rid of San Francisco, Santa Monica, West L.A., Santa Cruz, etc., and ends at Upland so I can have beachfront property. That works.

Stand strong, naps. The attacks on anyone who isn’t a Mittens bootlicker here will continue.

Romney hasn’t gotten any better. But the desperation to replace Obama is so strong that people now see Willard through a less discriminating filter..ie rose colored glasses.

If the Mass. moderate wins,(and improvement in speech content and enthusiasm is because his campaign team listened to sound advice from Ingraham, Kristol, Rush and Levin), he will be the luckiest RINO/reacher across the aisle/good ol’ GOP-E poster boy on earth. Under any other light, he FAILS the conservative smell test...miserably.

Better Romney’s finger in my butt than Obama’s knife in my heart.

Even with the possible disaster of a Hussein victory, Bam will NOT be able to do the damage he seeks if we have the Senate and the House. And EVEN if we don’t take 60 seats in the Senate, but rather get close..like with 57 or 58, the Kenyan’s “power” will be diminished.

There are Dems who are already ditching him because they have to get reelected two years after the election. Hell, even Der Sleek has advised him to temper his crusade to overtax the rich, knowing it could put the kabosh on future opps for Dem majorities.

There are ways to skin the the hide of the dastardly Demorats and even Obama himself. Work hard to help core Constitutional conservatives get elected to office at all levels of government.

Expecting Romney, a seriously flawed candidate, to rescue us (and become someone he is not) will bring us nothing but disappointment and post election depression. Anyone think the GOP-E won’t try to throw the Tea Party and all it stands for under the bus on Nov.7?

It’s up to WE THE PEOPLE to find our way out of this mess and save the country we love so much.

If Obama ends up putting a knife in your heart, it’ll be because you allowed him to do it.

Thank you for adding some sanity to the thread. While we could have done better than Romney, there is nobody the GOP could have put up that would be ahead by 25 points. Nobody. That's just ludicrous. Even Reagan was behind Carter at this juncture in 1980.

A five point lead (I understand it's just one poll) before the convention is definitely an indicator that this election can be a landslide defeat of Obama. I also agree with you that Newt would not do any better. In fact, I think we would be running behind. I understand the Free Republic community would be doing handstands with Newt as the nominee but we represent maybe .004% of the electorate. Women and Independents would be running for the hills and we would have a very hard time winning with him in November - I know that's not what Freepers want to hear but that's the way I see it.

I tell you one thing, if Rasmussen has Romney up by 5 (and they had him up by 4 yesterday), the Obama campaign is crapping their pants. The GOP convention is still a month away and between now and then, Romney will be controlling the news cycle, especially if he announces his running mate in the next week or so.

Don't forget that Romney can't start spending his money until after the convention as he spent most of his pre-convention money in the primaries. Because Obama did not have to contest for the nomination, he's had the luxury of spending his pre-convention money this summer. The ad battle will be joined in September and Mitt has lots of money to be spent.

It is not about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

It is about socialized medicine, death panels, and
RomneyCARE = ObamaCARE = DeathCARE by Govt Choice.

Want to see why Mr. RomneyCARE cannot win????

“And EVEN if we don’t take 60 seats in the Senate, but rather get close..like with 57 or 58, the Kenyan’s “power” will be diminished.”

Get real. With his czars, executive orders and that POS Holder nothing will slow the Kenyan down. He doesn’t follow the rules. He suspends laws (immigration) when it suits him, he’s dismantling welfare reform and on and on. The Kenyan doesn’t give a damn about the senate.

“Neither....Just voting for the down ticket because the GOP finally crossed the line and left me behind....”

“The GOP” apparently arranged for conservatives to spread their votes between several weak, poorly financed, candidates....and of course the conservatives gladly complied.

And now you claim conservatives are victims of “the GOP” whereas I maintain conservatives are only the victims of their own poor strategy, poor tactics, poor financing, poor organization, poor leadership, etc.

I never said I hoped Romney lose. Although getting kicked to the curb at the convention would make me very happy. What I am saying is that we have such a loser candidate that it is going to be close. Any other decent candidate would win easily over Obama.
