Quit Whining Cameron, Romney Ran An Olympics
RiehlWorldView.com ^ | 7/27/2012 | Dan Riehl

This silliness has mostly been fun for me, as I suspect, unlike the media, the average American voter couldn't care less about it; however, it does have an element of Obama and the left's ongoing war against success in it.

Some are forgetting that, not only does Romney speak with experience and success when it comes to running an Olympics, it was far from America's best moment when it risked botching an Olympics of its own back in 2002.

They can like it, or not, Mitt Romney is largely credited with hauling those, and Salt Lake's ashes out of the fire, suggesting he's competent and capable. What I see is a seasoned executive speaking with some authority gained from significant experience versus a bunch of preening children not appreciating being smacked in the face with a bit of reality.

Cameron looks like a petulant brat here, instead of focusing on what's important, he's self-absorbed as his and Britain's wobbly egos seem to have been bruised. Oh well, life happens - which is basically what Romney was conveying in his remarks - that, and it's wise to be prepared for it.

All things considered, as I think and hope Americans will prefer the adult in the room in November - that's Romney - as opposed to four more years of an ostriched plumed politician like Obama (and Cameron is increasingly looking like one, too for the little that's worth to American voters), I'm tempted to go back to bed so I can continue to not lose sleep over a less newsworthy story than that annoying Queen's Jubilee we recently had to endure thanks to America's silly, elitist media.

This pompous non-circumstance is already getting decidedly old.

Mitt Romney handed Barack Obama a potential gift for the US presidential election campaign when the presumptive Republican nominee blundered on his first diplomatic outing by questioning whether London was capable of staging a successful Olympic Games.

In a move that astonished Downing Street, hours before it laid on a special reception for Romney at No 10, he told NBC there were "disconcerting" signs about the preparations for the Games. One senior Whitehall source said: "What a total shocker. We are speechless."

David Cameron wasted no time in rebuking Romney hours after his remarks were broadcast. On a visit to the Olympic Park, the prime minister said: "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities in the world. Of course it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere."

"Of course it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere."

Our British cousins should keep this in mind.....

We have the open space and resources because we kicked your ass twice. Those same resources and people from "the middle of nowhere" saved your ass twice in the 20th century.

The Brits are sounding like a bunch of Frenchies on this one.

Uh, the Salt Lake City Valley is pretty full of people. Not too many muzzies, but still not really too much different from running a big event in London.

“Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.”

By “middle of nowhere”, I will assume you meant where there aren’t any Muslims living in huge numbers with designs on turning your town into Pakistan on the North Sea.

And also SLC took place only a few months after 9-11, you brit-t*at. So yes it was a bit harder to hold that Olympics than most.

p.s. You already had one muzzie attack a torch-bearer, so you need to try harder.

Duh, maybe what Romney said was true?

PM Cameron is busy surrendering his country to the invading Moslem horde.

Why should anything he says be considered credible?

One thing Churchill and Thatcher had in common, plenty of Tory politicians hated their guts.

Have you noticed when Bachmann (about Muslim Brotherhood) and Romney speak the truth it considered a gaffe?

Any Republican candidate has to deal with the opposition making mountains out of molehills.

And London hosted an Olympics when the country was still ravaged by six years of war, the country was near-broke, and the British people still had rationing.

Whats your point?.

Comparing a Winter Olympics to a Summer Olympics is comparing Apples to Oranges. Winter Olympics typically are held “in the middle of nowwhere”, and are on a much smaller scale than the Summer Games. The security challenges are nowhere near what a Summer Games faces.

When you are a guest, show respect to your host and keep your mouth shut. If a British PM or politician said what he said, on US soil, you’d be quite right to attack him for lack of respect.

“96% of the UK is NOT muslim.”

So?

Last time I checked, the UK doesn’t seem to know that.

I think Cameron’s comments refer to the geographical ‘easiness’ of hosting an Olympics in more open country, as opposed to a huge city like London, which is geographically in a more packed area.

IMO his comments werent a dig at the 2002 games being in some sort of ‘backwater’.
