UPDATE: 11:30 a.m. ET: James Holmes, the suspect in the Colorado theater massacre, appeared in a Colorado courtroom on Monday. A judge advised Holmes of his Miranda rights, and that there was probable cause to continue to hold him without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Holmes, who was transported from from a holding cell to the courtroom via an underground tunnel, appeared dazed: his brow furrowed, his eyes opening and closing often. His hair was dyed red. He did not speak.
Seated in a jury box next public defender Tamara Brady, Holmes never looked towards a gallery that included about two dozen victims and victims advocates.
The preliminary hearing lasted for about 11 minutes. Holmes' next court appearance is July 30.

“I believe that he very much intended to survive. It appears that the booby traps and such were set to tie up first responders with casualties so that there was little or no response at the theater.”
_______
You hit the nail on the head. His neighbors said that the stereo began blasting exactly at midnight. Someone was supposed to enter the apartment to turn down the stereo, set off the explosives and the theater was supposed to be the second tragedy of the day in that city. very Joker-esque.
Translation: left-leaning Liberal.
Something I have noticed in cases like this. When you see the person after the fact, there is a look of dis-belief, or stunned if you like. Almost as if they don’t understand why they are there. I believe, and this comes from living almost 60 years and having seen it up close and personal, that it is clear proof that evil does exist. That for whatever reason some people open their soul to evil and it enters, causes unspeakable horror, then exits to leave that person to pay for the acts committed. Last thought, while I pray for those affected by this evil, I also feel so sorry for this mans parents. The child that brought them so much joy and hope now causes them pain beyond measure.
His appearance — especially the eyes, and more so on video — do look like he is on a stiff dose of an anti-psychotic drug but I don’t think it would be constitutional to force an injection prior to the judge seeing him in the hearing and ordering it.
anyone who did what he did is obviously psychotic
the questions are what to do with them?
and how to stop them?
none of this is new, one can read of crazed medieval marauders carrying off kids and butchering villages and whatnot...folks lived with that fear then same as now
just the tools are now a bit more expedient and a much larger target pool to take “it” out on
this is just the state of the human condition, folks crack up
awful
I think the insanity plea will be hard to sustain as evidence of several month of planning and preparation for this come out in trial.
Please infer the translation correctly. Every liberal scumbag in Congress says they are “mainstream” and ‘middle of the road” and we are extremest. Most times middle of the road and mainstream are code for “bat-sh@t crazy leftist.”
He looks psychotic.
Yep. And also probably sleep deprived.
It was barely discernible but you could almost make out his lips moving from time to time like he may have been mumbling. That and every once and a while his eyes would get big and dart around. I wonder if hes hallucinating.
Also show he had no plans to return believing he would be killed at the movie.
I agree with what Dana Perino said: instead of debating gun control, we need to focus our debate on mental health
Surely, you meant Vivian....
I don’t believe Stuned is a word. Do you mean stoned or stunned?
Could be an act but he could be coming off meds.

Mary - meet Al. Al - meet Mary.
hes a nothing-nobody that will never see the outside of a jail cell again.

I wouldn’t bet on that.
Lets say he should be executed shortly with prejudice.
If he gets jail time one day he may walk.
He thinks he is real smart playing everyone for fools but he wasn’t expecting to be taken straight out of court AND HANGED IN THE PARKING LOT:
Oh wait that’s MY movie.
Nevermind, go back to the fools part.
‘Stuned’ is a Freeper term. As in, “Well, stune my beeber!”
Your explanation makes sense. His sudden, almost involuntary confession to police about the booby trapped apartment, followed by silence, struck me the same way.
