SEATTLE CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Schubert: Rondo for Violin and Piano in B minor, D. 895
Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin
Anna Polonsky, piano
Schubert as a rule didnt write showpieces for instrumentalists. In this case he had two friends, Slawjk (pronounced SLA-vik) the violinist and Bocklet the pianist, who wanted something from him to take on the road. Always looking for something he could get published, Schubert handed them this showpiece for violin and piano. Its a lot of fun and full of great tunes.
Brahms: Sonata for Cello and Piano in E minor, Op. 38
Robert DeMaine, cello
Adam Neiman, piano
This piece isnt as popular as the late Opus 99 cello sonata, but its still a good example of Brahms in his twenties. The finale is a wonderfully complicated fugue.
Walton: Quartet for Piano and Strings
James Ehnes, violin
Marcus Thompson, viola
Julie Albers, cello
Andrew Armstrong, piano
This piece by William Walton will be new for me. Jimmy Ehnes likes to program pieces never heard at the festival, and this should be interesting.

In my opinion, these young men are deserving of our acknowledgement on a Hall of Heroes thread even though they are not in the military. Perceiving danger, they confronted it rather than seeking safety. They saved the lives of three young women, paying the ultimate price.
PRAYERS GOING UP FOR JON BLUNK, MATT MCQUINN AND ALEX TEVES!
These three young men saved the lives of their girlfriends by shielding them from gunfire at the Aurora Massacre.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15; 13 KJV)
God bless these gallant young men! May their heroic souls rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon them. Prayers of condolence going up for their families and friends - may they find healing and consolation.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Psalm 23 -KJV

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
