Here comes another “War on Poverty”.
It all depends on what the definition of “poor” is...
Related, excellent article that explains why AP is reporting now on a report that won’t be released until mid-September:

Barry’s open borders dream from his father should take us back to the 30s in no time. America’s poverty rate is so low that now we need to import it.
Marx talked about this as a strategy. It is also part of Cloward-Piven.
Obamacare is not about providing access to healthcare. Obamacare is about increasing dependency and making more and more people who need government help.
>>SUMMER OF RECOVERY?
Cloward-Piven Endgame—with a new “War on Poverty” that was written by Marx with America’s “nobility” leading us towards destruction just as the Czar’s nobles did for Russia.
Here’s the thing. If you are living in a house that you paid $300k for, and it’s currently valued at $240k....you are locked into a mess. You probably are paying your entire paycheck for the mortgage, which you cannot refinance or work up a new deal, or sell the house because of being underwater. So you pay your monthly salary toward the house and utility bill.
You are exiting off your wife’s paycheck, which you use to pay for two cars, insurance, food, and various essentials of life. To be honest, you are pretty much living on the margins of life and have the poster of “poverty” above your head. You aren’t middle-class anymore because one entire paycheck is paying for a stupid mortgage that you really can’t afford but you were stupid enough to convince yourself you could.
So a whole segment of society is falling off the middle-class table....onto the poverty table. You’d laugh about this and say that a family hauling in $60k after taxes ought to be well beyond poverty, but after you deduct stupid economic decisions....they are on the margins of poverty.
The definition of “poor” isn’t all what you think it is. There are some guys who retired back in 2002 with a million-dollar IRA and a paid-up house....went through the economic stumble of 2008/2009, and today....have to live off their social security check and a greatly decreased input from their IRA which amounts to an extra $800 a month, and hope that things don’t collapse again. Their private golf membership is gone....the second car is gone....and their one vacation a year is a week visiting their daughter in Florida.
If they have $300 sneakers, widescreen plasma TV, electronic games, computers and PDA’s they aren’t poor.
Its called kneepadding Barry at all costs.
I FNG hate the media
Thing is, in the 60s, a lot of those impoverished people didn’t think of themselves as impoverished, and most people, along with the economy, were moving up. Now, impoverished means not owning two flat screen TVs and a gaming laptop. In addition, people are downwardly mobile, like the economy. Things just generally suck more. Somewhere along the line we would have been better off without all the stimulating and debt. It’s too late now.
Naaahh, the War on Poverty is over!
Poverty won...
Heck, the kenyan is so bad I even miss THAT guy.
(uh...not really!) LOL.
I've always considered those identifying marks of the poor. People with the will power to buy less expensive shoes without the "in" styling, one smaller TV (or none), a bat and ball or other traditional toys, and more reasonable cell phones have more than enough money - at least until until Barack has the power to spread it around. It's the ones who are controlled by advertising who become poor on their own.
The Government safety net is what is increase the ranks of the poor!
We need more church groups and tax sheltered shelters for the homeless and the hungry.
The only way to make it happen is to cut government spending and taxes so these generous groups have the money available to help.
Poverty as defined by the left is when someone has more money than someone else...less those in Washington who don't count as part of the equation.
