(CBS News) Sources say investigators have found key evidence in dumpsters and trash bins outside of James Holmes' apartment, including a shipping label from an internet ammunition store called BulkAmmo.com.
Investigators also tell CBS News they have recovered a surveillance video of James Holmes picking up approximately 150 pounds of ammunition at a Federal Express outlet in Colorado.
They've interviewed a UPS driver who says Holmes had 90 packages delivered to his workplace on the University of Colorado medical campus.
And sources say over the past several months, Holmes spent about $15,000 as he was putting together his deadly arsenal -- guns, chemicals, explosives, and ammunition.
"Through the Internet he purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition, more than 3,000 rounds of. 223 ammunition for the assault rifle, 3,000 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition for the two Glocks in his possession and 300 rounds for the 12 gauge shotgun."
Holmes did most his shopping on Internet sites. And he was clearly in a hurry.
A receipt from TacticalGear.com shows on July 2 -- two-and-a-half weeks before the shootings -- Holmes purchased a bulletproof vest and other equipment. He paid extra to have it shipped by 2nd-day air.

Fast and Furious 2
No way a Grad Student had the money to buy all that weaponry...no bleeping way
Hopefully we will find out who helped this guy.
And, hopefully, we will not have PhonyCons side with the Liberal Media...like they have done w the Obama Birth Certificate...to prevent the facts from getting out
My husband commented this morning: Do you think this guy was all about implementing gun control, sacrificial lamb for the cause yada.
I blew it off as too far out but now I am starting to wonder.
I would like to know how someone who supposedly was pissed off that he couldn’t get “Anything better than a job at McDonalds” got his hands on 15 grand. Someone was supplying this guy with money, the question is who
That’s why we need to be turning over every rock to find every shred of evidence that even Holder dare not protect him this close to November.
My first thought .... OMG! Everything he did was legal!!!! And the government will spend millions tracking every legal purchase the maniac ever made.
Meanwhile, that same government has spent two years avoiding telling us anything about spending our money on legal weapons to illegally give to Mexican druggies.
...Which begs the question- who was bankrolling this guy?...
My guess ... Student loans.
“Holmes had 90 packages delivered to his workplace on the University of Colorado medical campus.”
90 Packages ordered on internet? This dove tails nicely with BO’s position paper on taking over the internet that was published in the WSJ the same day as the massacre.
I noticed yesterday that Yahoo was running the headline something like “Shooter purchased 6000 rounds on the internet”.
You can buy the plate carriers from TacticalGear.com, but here’s what they say about the bulletproof plates.
Note: This is a restricted item. You must have valid identification proving you are a military, law enforcement, or security professional to purchase.
Manufactured us
Now some of the witnesses are saying that someone in the theater let him in that door. What kind of guy gets geared up to do something like that and gets taken alive? And the reports from the jail of him spitting on the guards thinking he is in the movie. I'm thinking the shooter was supposed to be killed and the apartment blown up to obliterate evidence and scare us even more. Whoever ran this op screwed up and he lived and the bombs did not go off. Here's hoping they get his recruiters and programmers.
That’s what I thought, as well.
Yep - pretty much a no-brainer. Although probably numerous credit cards. I get 1 or 2 offers in the mail every day it seems. “Instant $5000 credit with no paperwork”....
Seems odd though to buy so much ammo so quickly and so soon before the shooting. A shooting where he obviously hadn’t planned to use all 6,000 rounds. I doubt he needed it all for practice.
I imagine he bought it in such mass-quantities for some ego thing. I read somewhere that on the adult sex-finder website he said his dick was small to average. Seriously - I bet he thought it made him more of a man having that much ammo around. And of course if money is no object - why not?
“I don’t buy ammo but I would think even on the Internet
there would be some sort of register that the dealers would have to keep and if they sold so much to one person or
a certain dollar amount it would be reported to someone.”
Why? And report to whom?
I can buy all the ammo I want over the counter here in Nevada without even showing ID.
I don't miss California a bit even after being born, raised and living there for 40 years.
Don't know about Colorado laws though.
I can't make that leap yet, not enough info out there yet.
If it does turn out to be true, I definitely wouldn't be surprised.
He worked in the schools lab until he dropped out or maybe he was fired for ordering so much ammo at work.
He probably had access to chemicals and bio material in the lab. How do we know he did not add something to the gas canisters he set off? Why wasn’t there any hazmat decontamiation done on the hundreds of people in the theater?
What was his plan for 6,000+ rounds? He used only a fraction of that at the theater.
James Holmes was obviously spending a great deal of somebody’s money in the process of accumulating this arsenal.
Questions: Where was the money coming from, and did he have accomplices who were aware of what he was planning?
There have been allegations that this was actually an “Occupy Black Bloc” operation, which means it was probably coordinated at a very high level. Considering the sudden virtual silence surrounding many of these circumstances, is my paranoia really getting the best of me, or are there really some puppetmasters pulling strings on a covert operation to spread distrust and terror among the civilian population?
I would think they would be a lot more interested in where he got the idea to shoot to begin with. The guns didn’t do the shooting, he did.
Maybe he used student loan money.
