(CNN) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an outspoken advocate of stricter gun-control laws, said in a radio interview Friday the two candidates for president needed to take a firmer line in addressing gun violence.
Bloomberg's comments came as police and the FBI were investigating a deadly shooting in Colorado that left at least 12 people dead.
"Soothing words are nice, but maybe it's time that the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country," Bloomberg said on WOR Radio's "The John Gambling Show."
Bloomberg continued, saying Friday's tragedy should spark greater focus on how guns reach killers.
"I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day, it's just got to stop," Bloomberg said. "And instead of the two people - President Obama and Governor Romney - talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, okay, tell us how."

hey Bloomers, shouldnt you worry about stuff like Super-sized slurpees?
This man is a punk.
At 20 paces? OK by me.
Now we have heard from the peanut gallery
New York once again is failing
With all their anti-gun laws, NYC should be the most peaceful place on earth . . . . . not.
After Fast and Furious, I would not be surprised if they somehow were connected to the incident. It has always struck me as odd that on occasions when some major news is supposed to break (Arpaio's press conference) something comes along...and especially where firearms and the RKBA are concerned, an incident.
Bloomers can sit on it and spin.
Yet Bloomburg can have all the armed security he wants......
My neighbor said he has a cousin who works at this station and they said Bloomberg had to sit on THREE NYC phone books so he could reach the mike.
Oates said Holmes’ lone interaction with local police prior to the shooting occurred in October when he was cited for speeding.
So....would Bloomburg add speeding to the list of exclusions for buying guns? If the guy was law abiding, what law would stop him? Would love to hear someone from the press ask him this simple question.
Bloomberg has 3 a day dead, 15,00 a year, from guns in New York City. He should keep his filthy political nose out of Colorado and instead focus on his own city.
When will that feculent little man go away ?
