This is an excellent thread Jim, and I stand with you 100 percent.
The fact is, the entire electoral process has been corrupted and turned into a charade, 0bama is a Communist pig that isn't even eligible to be IN the White House (unless it was as a janitor emptying trash cans), Romney is a Socialist pig that believes in the same basic things 0bama does, which is never ending expansion of the federal leviathan, increased controls and restrictions over our freedoms and civil liberties, permitting and/or promoting the perverted life styles of the most depraved in our society.
Neither one of those clowns will do a damn thing to limit, let alone reduce the size of the federal government. They will both continue to allow the fascist Department of Homeland Security and their sock puppet/blue shirts over at the TSA to run rampant and trample our freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights. To 0bama, the Constitution is indeed, no better than toilet paper. To Romney, the Constitution is like a fine silk handkerchief, carried in the pocket, folded nicely, but still used to blow his freakin' nose in, when the notion strikes him.
IF Romney is elected, we will see perhaps a slight reduction in velocity as America heads for the edge of the cliff, from 0bama's wild 110 mph, down to a thrifty 55 mph, but we will still be headed for the damn cliff!
And as we serenely survey the landscape as we enjoy that 55 mph ride to the same oblivion 0bama is taking us to, many Americans will be lulled into a false sense of restored 'security', thinking that everything is going to be ok, that Romney and his crew will make everything right again, and America lives happily ever after, to which I say BULLSH*T!!!
After what 0bama has pulled over the past 4 years, Romney will be able to get away with damn near anything, as long as it doesn't appear quite as extreme as what the Kenyan douchebag did. And Romney will have a complacent Congress that will mostly rubber stamp whatever he proposes, why? Because the RINOs know he is "one of their own", and the 'Rats know that Romney is damn near as liberal as they are, and that they have more in common than they differ on.
Now having said all that about a hypothetical Romney win, what happens if 0bama is re-elected?
Contrary to the fearmongers and hand wringers among us, it would NOT mean the end of America, it would NOT mean that we would sink into totalitarian darkness, although it is more than likely that an 0bamunist second term would certainly TRY to enact absolute federal control and shut down the Bill of Rights due to some contrived 'national emergency'.
But here is where I want to be extremely measured in what I say next:
Let 'em try it.
I know that FReepers and true patriots across this Land will agree with me, that we do not, and WILL not take any preemptive or violent action towards the federal despots in Washington, like you yourself have said in the past Jim, we do NOT advocate the violent overthrow of the United States Government. We are a Nation of Laws, we agree on the necessity to obey the Laws.
However: when (not a question of 'if' but when) the illegitimate 0bama regime overreaches, and they WILL overreach just like every tyranny eventually does, We The People will NOT roll over.
We will see in a second 0bama term, a 'moment' (or a series of 'moments') when the fascists currently in control will take measures that are so brazen, so absolutely outrageous and illegal, that the American people will respond in the only way they know how, as clearly defined by Thomas Jefferson in his wise words about the Tree of Liberty, and how it must be watered from time to time.
There WILL be armed conflict, not initiated or provoked by the American people, but begun by the power mad maniacs led by Comrade 0bama who believe it is their destiny to destroy this great Republic, and replace it with a communist/socialist system in which the individual is minimized, and the power of the State is maximized.
They will fail. We The People will prevail.
To employ an analogy: with a Romney election, America will continue to suffer from the rot of the internal cancer that began many years ago, our Republic will become further weakened and enfeebled, our national strength, morality and vitality will dwindle until we are just another Euro-style weenie nation constantly on the edge of bankruptcy, continuously taxing and imposing ever greater 'fees' and charges upon the populace until we are all dependent on the government teat just to barely survive.
However if 0bama is re-elected, it will not be cancer that saps our life away over time, it will be more like flesh eating disease, which begins to devour and consume us rapidly, because like any dictatorship, there is nothing subtle about them, we will feel the effects immediately, and it will be impossible to ignore, and Americans, REAL Americans will unite to rid ourselves of that life threatening infection. It would be my hope that within our United States Armed Forces, that there will be more than a few dedicated officers who take their Oath to uphold the Constitution to be the greater obligation as opposed to obeying the orders of a corrupt thug and the goons who support him.
0bama vs Romney?
It's a choice between being shot between the eyes with a .44 or a .22. Either way, you're probably going to end up dead.
I'm not going to play their game. Let them do whatever the Hell they think they can get away with. When those jackboots come after me, I'll be ready to demonstrate exactly what the Second Amendment is all about.
And no, that is not a threat, not at all.
That is a .

The Protest Vote - When NOT to use it.
Just recently I cast my vote in Texas for Ron Paul, knowing full well that Romney had ‘corraled’ our politically hijacked and unconstitutionally delayed the Texas Primary.
( For this ‘delayed’ Primary, someone should be tarred and feathered in the streets for usurping millions of Republicans’ rights. )
It was a close to meaningless protest vote against Romney- nothing more, nothing less..
Having educated myself on Obama; and not entirely thrilled with Gov. Romney; I will not be able to again cast a protest vote against Mitt Romney.
Too much is at stake, and much damage has been done.
While I firmly believe we could survive 8 years with Obama, ( thanks, Adams, Jefferson, et.al. for checks/balances ),
I’m not willing to accept further catastrophic weakness and BO continuous undermining of the internal and external security United States of America.
For the forseeable future the USA continues to be the best hope for individual freedom and liberty across this planet.
There may be only 3-4 living people that would be worse than re-electing Barak Obama, and I thank G-d that Jimmy Carter is ineligible to run... ( for different reasons than BO).
4 years or 8, look on historians to ferret out the inane electorate that allowed such as BO to take our once vaulted office of the POTUS- I remember how some were openly aghast at the peanut farmers rise.
A third party vote or non-vote is a vote for Obama. This vote is not between Hitler and Stalin... it’s more like Hitler and... perhaps... Charles de Gaulle.
The battle is still grass roots, support your local politician. Let us do what’s right.

Romney is absolutely the most liberal candidate wearing the “R” label that the GOP could have chosen. And the GOP HAS chosen him from the beginning of this campaign. That is a huge reason that I never identify as a republican anymore.

A man who for over 30 years of his adult life by his own admission justified the wholesale slaughter of innocent and helpless human life is purely evil and can and did justify anything. Many times.
Perversely, Romney is just about the only Republican who may actually lose to Obama. Hell, even McCain beat Romney.
Taking the right path is not easy and not popular at this time, but it's the only path.
And, perversely, some who call themselves conservatives are going to help increase the possibility that Romney loses to Obama, the president who has launched the most intense and sustained attack on the Constitutional and economic infrastructure of the United States, the president who favors partial birth abortion, who opposes the infants born alive laws, who is actually doing an end-run around Congress by imposing by edict what he can't get through legislation on any number of issues, all the while praising themselves for allegedly doing the moral thing, the "right" thing out of fear what Romney could do if elected as opposed to what OBAMA IS ACTUALLY NOW DOING.
Your calculus of evil is leaving out an important factor, a third "evil" factor. If Romney is "evil" and Obama is "evil," and a win by an evil guy with a potential evil outcome on the national stage is prevented by the win by an evil guy with an actual ongoing evil effect on both the nation and the world and that win occurs because he got more votes than the other guy, then those who could foil the actual evil by voting for his opponent representing a possible, as-yet-unrealized, and perhaps never-to-be realized evil, who choose not to do so, are choosing instead, whatever else they may want to call it, to do something that will enable the ongoing evil to continue unabated.
A choice to leave evil in place out of fear of an evil that could, though not necessarily, replace it, is that third factor of evil.
The Apostle Paul talked about the perversity of those who say, "Hey, since God is turning my evil deed toward something good, let's do evil so good will result." He didn't go on to talk about those who say, "Hey, let's deliberately refrain from doing something to restrain an ongoing evil because it could result in an outcome that may be evil which means we would be voting for evil so we'll call refraining from that, by doing nothing or deliberating choosing something that has no possible counter-effect, good," because that's a level of perversity basically beyond both imagination and sanity. But even though we don't do evil so good may result, we can, like God, turn something "evil" toward a good end. Preventing Obama from being reelected is good. Enabling him to be reelected is evil. Whatever goes toward the latter end is, therefore, more evil than the former.
The situation as being currently expressed in the "never Romney, even it it results in Obama's reelection" seen here is the level of moral development of someone who would say, if a psychotic axe-wielding murder breaks into his house in pursuit of a victim who had taken refuge there and asks where the victim is hiding, "I will tell him where the refugee is because to do otherwise would be lying and lying is wrong and I have to remain pure before God by not breaking His holy commandment against lying!"
Obama is that axe-wielding murderer.
Edmund Burke said that evil triumphs because good men stand by and do nothing. Those who have the vote but don't use it to defeat Obama by voting for the only one who has a real chance* to defeat the ongoing evil of Obama are choosing to let an actual, demonstrable, ongoing evil prevail out of fear of enabling a potential evil.
*Outside of a fantasy more grandiose than any proffered by leftists except, perhaps, by Lyndon Larouche, the fantasy that, "Hey, if we all just vote for someone other than Obama, even though we didn't manage to get him selected through the primary contests in 50 states, oh, someone who isn't evil but Goode, then everything will turn out okay! But, hey, even though no third party has won a presidential election in, uh, well, ever, this could be the time! To try for anything else is simply evil." That choice, to go for something that has never had any demonstrable possibility of occurring, with the much greater likelihood of leaving in place something that has never before posed such an immediate and ongoing threat from within to our way of life, is a choice that is a much greater evil than voting against Obama by voting for his Republican Party opposition and making adjustments in later, upcoming elections.

Perversely, Romney is just about the only Republican who may actually lose to Obama. Hell, even McCain beat Romney. And at this point that is really saying something about Beelzebub and the Republican Party these days. The RP has been and iss dying from a stinking, rotting cancer that is destroying the party and this (once great) country from the inside out and from the top down. I am one of those principled God fearing Christian Americans who just cannot bring himself to vote for Beelzebub or Satan come November. A vote cast for either one is a vote to bring this country to its collective knees as both are evil through and through. IMHO.
Oh, and both Alan Keyes and JimRob are both spot on and I'm with them both on this.
