"You can't fight evil with evil"
July 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/17/2012 3:30:32 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

As Alan Keyes wrote the other day, you cannot fight evil with evil.

If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor:

A Choice Between Satan and Beelzebub (FR thread)

Brief excerpt:

I grieve deeply as I contemplate the fact that millions of Americans are letting themselves be caught in this diabolical snare. As I tried to point out in 2008, the lesser of evils is still evil. No matter how such an election turns out, people content to choose between Satan and Beelzebub have made clear their willingness to let things go to hell. Moreover, the nature of their choice is so clear to them that they practically boast of the passionate hatred that impels them to it. With this practical boast they become the willing, proud accomplices of the very evil they profess to hate.

I’m morally certain this is why Christ admonished his disciples to make striving for God’s perfection the standard for their actions, rather than their hatred of evil. He thought it better to fail reaching for this standard than succeed by abandoning one’s life to the devil’s dominion. He thought it better to fail in the world’s eyes while commending one’s spirit to God (as he does on the cross) than succeed by casting one’s lot with God’s adversary.

--Alan Keyes

A man who for over 30 years of his adult life by his own admission justified the wholesale slaughter of innocent and helpless human life is purely evil and can and did justify anything. Many times.

Romney's entire political life has been a mis-adventure into godless liberal/progressive evil. There can be no denying that he has during his tenure either advocated for or personally enacted nearly the entire godless liberal/progressive agenda. He has succeeded where the Democrats have failed and he has shown them the way. His record of evil leftist doings, rationalizing, justifying, flip-flopping and mealy-mouthed parsing and spinning (lying) precedes him and tells the tale of the man. He has no foundation. No core principles. No Christian values. No moral compass. If ever a man was a godless liberal in the GOP, he is Myth Romney.

If the Republican conservatives in office or in leadership positions or in the so-called conservative media would simply stop rooting for this evil bastard and commit to the TRUTH and stand tall for Life and Liberty now and at the convention, we could chuck this liberal bastard onto the ash heap of history and run a pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-small government conservative Republican that we can all be proud to support over the Marxist usurper. And we would WIN in a Reaganesque landslide!!

Perversely, Romney is just about the only Republican who may actually lose to Obama. Hell, even McCain beat Romney.

Taking the right path is not easy and not popular at this time, but it's the only path.

May we stand on God's side while attempting to save our Republic!!

The violence of evil must be met by the violence of righteousness, justice, love, and grace.

This one supremely bone-headed, howler, in (still-)bemused retrospect, genuinely does merit a final and inarguable pimp-slapping:

I'm not a Republican; I'm a conservative. The Republican party never, ever gets to simply take my vote for granted -- they have to earn it, each and every time out, by running candidates whose views on the issues (as demonstrated by their previous track records, while in public office) reasonably align with my own... and I'm the only person on the face of the planet capable of judging whether or not they have, in fact, genuinely done so to my own satisfaction.

They didn't. I won't.

They can try just a wee, little harder next time out, if my vote is so supremely important to them (as I certainly do keep on hearing, hereabouts).

What “REAL” values? Sadly this American society has very much been lacking.

I am very afraid that if Obama gets back in, I could very well see in my lifetime a second civil war or revolution.

Andy, a gun ban is a gun ban.
You can parse it and dance all you want, it’s still a gun ban.
And it banned semi-automatics.
It was a gun BAN, get it?
You said that I lied.
Where is the lie?

“which was the price extracted from him by an 85% Democrat legislature “

So Romney is a wuss who couldn’t govern Massachussetts, and you expect him to do any better in Washington?
What’s the definition of insanity again?

Your own words indict the supposed ‘elected conservatives who would restrain Obama’. What about Obama-rule would these mythical Republicans seek to block and why? If they are resisting Obama-rule for party political reasons, why would you call them conservatives? If they are indeed conservatives then Romney doing the same obama-rule stuff would go against their conservative grain and they would restrain Milt’s obama-rule stuff. But you assert they would go along with obama-rule stuff if it comes from Romney, because they are fellow republicans. Then the bastards aren’t conservatives, the sons-a-bitches are republicans not conservatives. This magic thinking is getting to a level of absurdity! Even Allen West has been ‘going along to get along’ after being elected as a tea party exemplar. This reality we now face isn’t about parties, it’s about who the hell are the sovereigns of this Republic ... and the illegitimacy and thuggish rule of Barack Obama, while a Republican lead Congress twiddles their brown thumbs shows what the reality is ... we are the ruled people occupying the continent, and definitely not the sovereigns the founders arranged for. The rulers hidden from open view have chosen the two you must select from for who will be the surrogate ruler for the next four years as the gloablist agenda gets implimented in your lifetime. These nuanced discussions are esoteric nonsense, meant to ease along the normalcy bias being used to boil the frog people.

Romney is absolutely the most liberal candidate wearing the “R” label that the GOP could have chosen. And the GOP HAS chosen him from the beginning of this campaign. That is a huge reason that I never identify as a republican anymore.

If you haven't figured it out yet - I oppose all gun bans. Hell, I oppose all gun control laws, period.

But you accused Romney of banning all guns in Massachusetts and that was an inaccurate statement - parse it any way you want - it is not a statement of fact.

As for what he had to do when confronted with a hostile legislature, stonewalling state attorneys and uncooperative police departments, that is another matter. I came from Massachusetts and clearly you know nothing about it. Up until January of last year, Republican members of the state House and Senate could meet in a diner. A very small diner. And other than them, there was not a single elected Republican official in the state.

But accusing Romney of being a "wuss" is name-calling, not argumentation. Obama can do that on his own.

Like the vast majority of Republicans, I will probably vote for Romney, and not because I like or trust him but because the alternative is the end of America at the hands of a Marxist alien, and I cannot live with that on my conscience.

"So I see you've clarified your original assertion about a general "gun ban" that did not exist. "
A gun ban is a gun ban moron.
And any ban is bad.
Keep backpedaling Andy.
It amuses me that you keep trying to change what you initially claimed.
You cannot change the fact that Romney signed in July 8 2004 a ban on guns.
A ban is a a ban, period.

"Of course, we all know that "assault weapon" is a euphemism for "whatever looks kinda scary", so that was a cop-out on his part."

Funny, you admit that a ban is a ban here.
But then you turn around and try to claim a ban is not a ban by using weasel words.

No sale andy.

"What Romney did sign was an (admittedly noxious) assault weapons ban, which was the price extracted from him by an 85% Democrat legislature"
So Romney is a wuss who can't govern without caving to the whims of a bunch of whiners.

Keep wiggling andy.
Tell me again how a gun ban is not a gun ban.

Okay, smartass. Now try responding to a post you haven't already responded to.

And by all means, please go on with your silly name-calling while ignoring the fact that you stated something that is demonstrably false. Romney did not ban all guns in Massachusetts. It never happened.

As I explained (and as you choose to ignore), he approved an assault-weapons ban as part of a trade-off deal to make other firearms purchases and licensing requirements less cumbersome.
