Recently I heard a friend of mine echo the sentiment former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker expressed in an interview with WND: “I would vote for the devil himself over Barack Obama.” People say this to make clear how deeply they abhor Obama and all his works. Sadly, for them and for America, their passionate hatred of Obama puts them exactly where the devil wants them to be. The Father of Lies chuckles with satisfaction. He gloats triumphantly at the fact that their hatred of his appearance in one form has maneuvered them into supporting his triumph in another.
I grieve deeply as I contemplate the fact that millions of Americans are letting themselves be caught in this diabolical snare. As I tried to point out in 2008, the lesser of evils is still evil. No matter how such an election turns out, people content to choose between Satan and Beelzebub have made clear their willingness to let things go to hell. Moreover, the nature of their choice is so clear to them that they practically boast of the passionate hatred that impels them to it. With this practical boast they become the willing, proud accomplices of the very evil they profess to hate.
I’m morally certain this is why Christ admonished his disciples to make striving for God’s perfection the standard for their actions, rather than their hatred of evil. He thought it better to fail reaching for this standard than succeed by abandoning one’s life to the devil’s dominion. He thought it better to fail in the world’s eyes while commending one’s spirit to God (as he does on the cross) than succeed by casting one’s lot with God’s adversary.
All this came to my mind this week as I read the excellent half-truths in David Limbaugh’s column

Let’s evaluate Obama’s incompetence, shall we?
Obama has been more wildly successful in doing so than any prior president since FDR.
Obama installed socialized medicine when over 80% of the nation screamed their oppositions in town halls across the country.
Obama drove the Islamic fundamentalist take-over of no less than 5 sovereign nations - Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Yemen. Next to topple will be Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Morocco.
Obama has skyrocketed dependency with 50 million people hooked on food stamps.
Obama nationalized GM and Chrysler, destroying bond holders in the process.
It is midnight or I would go on and list more major victories by Obama.
He is bankrupting the coal industry.
Obama is going to sign a UN gun control treaty that will do for our 2nd amendment rights what UN Agenda 21 is doing to our land-ownership rights.
Incompetent my ass. If it wasn’t midnight I would bury you in Obama’s “incompetence”. He is destroying America at a breakneck pace, and if he gets a send term, he’ll triple the damage.
You have no clue. “Incompetence”. Unbelievable.
I’ve said it a hundred times. The wedge issue on Free Republic comes down to those of you who think we can survive a 2nd Obama term and those of us who think we can’t. After the damage done in Obama’s 2nd term, there won’t be a nation left for the GOP-e to screw up.
Once again I am reminded that Winston Churchill held his nose and Supported Stalin to defeat Hitler. He chose the lesser of evils to keep his nation from being eventually conquered and destroyed.
Once again I am reminded that many Freepers would have lost WWII because they would have been too ideologically pure to choose the lesser of evils and ally with Stalin against Hitler.
It must be fun to cut off your nose to spite your face.
Give it a rest. No abortionists, no homosexualists, no gun grabbers, no mandate loving big government statists. If the GOP wants my vote, they can run a conservative. Until then, they can KMA!

I state a pure fact. Stalin was evil to the core. He was no better than Hitler. Churchill still evaluated Hitler to be the greater threat and allied temporarily with Stalin to eliminate the imminent threat.
You know history. You know this is fact. Churchill was courageous and made gut-wrenching moral decisions to save his nation. He was forced to ally with an evil Stalin because he had no goal but to save his nation. He made a deal with the devil.
I stated a fact that many Freepers here would have lost WWII because they cannot make the gut-wrenching moral choice to defeat the imminent threat.
The only thing left then is whether people believe that Obama or Romney is the greater threat. So for a 101st time, the wedge here is between people who believe Obama is the greater threat, and people who believe Romney is the greater threat.
Well, this aint WWII, pal, and Obama aint Stalin and you’re no Churchill so spare us the histrionics. BTW, Soros appreciates your support of the man made global warming freak, Myth Romney. He’s a statist, pal. Look it up.
I would Vote For Bill Clinton before Obama.

Romney is not pro-life.
He governed as an abortionist, his back-channel messages to liberal groups that he’d be their friends once in power, his appointment of pro-abortion judges, his failure to stand firm on pro-life principles, his RECENT flipping on other social issues, and his willingness to fund anti-life programs ALL say that Mitt Romney is not a pro-lifer. Worse than that, there is every reason to believe he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, making him more dangerous than most others.

Every presidential election we are presented with 2 not very good choices. Then conservatives are presented with a propaganda campaign that goes thusly: vote for the gop candidate or all manner of evils will befall the republic. And don’t worry, you conservatives will be taken care of. Wink, wink.
And then if the dems win, we lose. But if the gop wins we lose as well because it turns out that voting for candidates that aren’t conservative means that conservatism isn’t implemented. This is a suckers game, yet every 4 years we play. The only difference this time is that the 2 major party candidates are really awful and the propaganda campaign is more shrill.
Sorry. I’m not playing anymore. And I’m going to encourage other conservatives to walk away from this game of political 3 card monte. It isn’t about “purity” or a unwillingness to compromise. I would love to compromise. But a compromise means I get met one half or one third of the way. With willard I don’t get that. I get nothing but an ill defined, mumbled pledge to do better from someone who has never shown conservative leanings while in office and who has demonstrably supported policies that I find repugnant.
