An innocent man was shot dead by police after deputies mistook him for an attempted murder suspect. Lake County, Florida officers showed up at the Blueberry Hill apartment of Andrew Scott at around 1.30am on Sunday Roused from his bed in the middle of the night by an unknown presence at his property, Andrew Scott answered the door holding a gun. Officers had not announced who they were because they did not want the man they thought was inside, Jonathan Brown, to escape.

No one will get rich off of this, lawsuits will go nowhere. There will be no loss of $ or career for the individuals involved, and no one will go to jail.
Just another murder by police that will soon be forgotten until the next one.
They are supposed to be cops, not ninjas....
Of course!
sheriff’s spokesman Lt. John Herrell said their silence was ‘tactically advantageous’.

Another case of middle-aged wannabe’s mistaking themselves for Seal Team 6 and the SAS.
Sadly, its happening over here too. A national newspaper recently published an article written by two SAS officers who’d been involved in training (or attempting to train..) armed response UK cops.
It was highly critical, to put it modestly.
The first criticism was the lack of real physical standards.. a selection process that weeds most of the wannabe’s out.
The second was that most of ‘em were hotheaded mongs whose first question once they had one of their SAS chaperones sit down for a drink was some variation “Sooo.... ya’ killed anyone?”
Third was a description of an exercise where the officers were instructed to use minimal force, with SAS guys playing the aggressors and purposely running a scenario in which the hostages could be freed without use of lethal force. The cops, of course, jsut stormed in and shot everyone.
The last criticism was related to number 3, that the lack of tough selection.. both physical and psychological.. professionalism and training led to situations where once the adrenalin got pumping all the stuff they’d been taught went immediately out of the window in favor of the most violent response possible.
Sound familiar?
It will be ‘justified’, the police never admit they are wrong.
Ditto
DON’T ANSWER THE DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!
You better figure out WHO is on the other side WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR!
YOU have the disadvantage of having to take a second and evaluated the “visitor”, before deciding to shoot.
The visitor only needs to see the crack in the doorway....
OK ...
What's a "mong"?
Context tells me I don't want to be one, and I don't want to be anywhere near one ...

Urban dictionary to save the day.
(n.) Short for mongers.
Describing people who bring something, usually a bad feeling or comment to a setting or arena.
Indeed. If any non-officer shot an innocent man, he would already be jailed for murder.
I suppose Knights of the Realm are to be given special privileges not afforded to mere peasants.

****
Indeed!
Mong = short for mongoloid.. the old term for someone with Downs Syndrome. A bit like moron but more politically incorrect and therefore more fun use, which probably explains why its still the insult of choice in many parts of HM’s Armed Forces.
Thank you.
Cops murder wrong guy...
Link, please?
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Nothing will be done to the cops except they might get rewarded with extra vacation with pay.
