Analysis: The summer Mitt Romney didn't want
Yahoo News ^ | July 15, 2012 | Rick Klein

Posted on 07/16/2012 3:04:03 AM PDT by Truth29

"Somehow, the summer of national economic discontent morphed into the summer of when Mitt Romney left Bain Capital and how many years' worth of tax returns he's released to the public.

Along the way, Romney has lost control of his campaign message, and lost perhaps his best opportunity to define himself to undecided voters."

Romney is letting Obama define him and is in reactive mode. He needs to attack Obama like he attacked his primary opponents.

Romney is “no more Mr. Niceguy” against conservatives. Against fellow Progressives he shows professional courtesy. This is hurting him.

Like no one other than the GOP-E could see this one coming.

Romney was able to vastly out-spend and out-attack his primary opponents.

Now he is up against an incumbent who can nearly match his fundraising AND who also has the compliant media on his side.

Seriously, what kind of idiots run the Romney campaign? Did they honestly think that these issues, allowed to pass during the primary, would not be dragged front and center once Romney was the presumptive nominee? Why were they not dealt with long, long ago?

Too many voters simply will not have empathy with Romney. As horrible as Obama is, the GOP-E managed to nominate the one candidate worst-suited to run against him.

Maybe the GOPe and the leftist Dems are on the same team.

Seriously, what kind of idiots run the Romney campaign?

Same low-wattage brain trust that decided having CINO McCain assure voters they had "nothing to fear from an Obama presidency" in 2008 -- and then spending the next four years relentlessly sabotaging the electoral chances of the one Republican (Palin) to whom the conservative voting base would unhesitatingly and unstintingly rally -- was "smart politics," essentially.

The (putatively) "adult" equivalent of crack babies, in other words.

Romney lost his way with conservatives and chances to rally the party’s base. He is becoming persona non grata. I fear in many ways he is worse than McCain. Because when all was said and done McCain chose Palin. Romney is not close to Palin at all and id the Daily Best/Newsweek post is right he is against not on Palin but all conservatives. So unlike McCain, Romney is not trying to reach out to us. So he is falling apart. Nobody likes him. Not exactly the right person to replace Obama or take him on.

And a week ago it was all downhill for Obama. What childish whining. Did conservatives think there wouldn’t be a campaign? It’s not Romney who’s a wimp, it’s childish conservatives. But then this is NOT unusual, in every election many freepers panic as soon as the conservative is attacked. Heck, half of you believe the attacks until calmer minds prevail.

People will not reelect Barack Obam simply because Romney’s former company outsourced some work.

If a Repub were president with this economy, the MSM would be running nothing but sob stories as to how the Pres’s economic policies have hurt so many. Everyday every media would be on it all the time. In this case the impact is so deep and extensive that such stories would be accurate and reflect the level of hopelessness particularly among the young. But we get nothing. The MSM work overtime to protect Hussain’ rear.

Romney doesn’t want to ruin his chances of replacing Biden.

He is infinitely worse than McCain. Willard did get "close" to Palin. She's got the scars from his knife wounds all over her back. Willard played no small role in helping to sink the '08 ticket deliberately. This guy has been working for the Socialist cause from Jump Street. He loathes Conservatives and would love to deliver the death blow to the GOP (hell, he already did to the MA GOP).

Back in 1999-2003, Romney didn't believe that people in 2012 would still be offended by and opposed to abortion. Back then, he saw an opportunity to profit in the abortion "industry" (Stericycle) and he thought he could do so without jeopardizing his future political options.

He knows now that abortion will always be opposed by mainstream America. So, now Romney is forced to pretend he's pro-life. And, he's also forced to try to bury his past involvement in the for-profit "business" of abortion.

That's the nature of his Bain problem and it isn't going to just go away.

"People will not reelect Barack Obam simply because Romney’s former company outsourced some work."

No, but they will if Romney doesn't get off his ass and fight fire with fire and pierce the veil of the liberal media constant attacks. He needs to fight like he did to destroy Gingrich, not like John "you have nothing to fear" McCain.

Childish conservatives? Cut us all a break from your sanctimony. The Romney campaign should have been ready for this issue. They were not. And many of us saw this coming.

Romney may still well win this. But he was the one GOP candidate who could turn an Obama butt-whumping into a competitive race.

childish conservatives

Better a "childish" conservative, than a craven moderate.

Not on the same team...but on the same mission.... To be the “Dictators in charge” when the Constitution is made irrelevant...Both sides will fight to the death for that "right"....
