There is a world of difference between purchasing a gun to use occasionally at the range and being mentally and physically prepared to use that gun to defend yourself and family in a crisis situation.

Nothing is gained, however, in having the populace scared of firearms. I agree with the recommendation to send him to the range, but he should also take his wife.
