And let's not forget it was the "Greatest Generation" that gave us socialism security. It's morally wrong to force people to pay for others retirement, food or medicine. Charity is a virtue. Extortion (which is what taxes are) is not. The federal government has no enumerated power to enact socialism security or anything like it (and the "general welfare" clause means what Madison meant it to say when he wrote it [i.e. the sum of the enumerated powers] and provides no authorization for socialism security, medicare etc.).

We should end social security. It's generational theft. Sell federal lands to pay off those who contributed and let younger Americans keep what they earn so they can pay for their own old age.

Please see also http://www.urban.org/UploadedPDF/social-security-medicare-benefits-over-lifetime.pdf

Socialism security provided the cash that allowed government to grow beyond all constitutional bounds. Now the bill is coming due and the politicians we elected spent all the money. The piggy bank is empty for the older Boomers. Of course that was the idea. Wealth was to be transferred from those with shorter life spans to those with longer life spans. Let me identify those groups - from Black men to White women. This is statistically true and irrefutable so don’t bother trying.

The only time I’ll watch Bill Maher is when Nick Gillespie appears as a guest. Nick does such a good job of showing every flaw of Maher’s mindset, and never lets up.

The generation before the greatest is who gave us Social Security. The Great Society, however, was their baby.

Sadly, the people who created this mess are dead and gone. We can go to the graveyard and scream at their graves but it won’t do a damn bit of good. Everyone has to take on part of this burden to stop this Ponzi Scheme. It will financially crush our children.

And I hate to break it to you Millenials, but there are a whole helluva lot more of us than there are of you.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

"We got to get ourselves back to the garden." Flash forward four or five decades, a couple of hundred pounds, the odd organ transplant, random arrests and jail stints, and the only garden David Crosby is getting back to is the Olive Garden with its unlimited pasta bowls and breadsticks.

LOL!

This particular boomer - who is still paying the max into the system - knew that this was a Ponzi scheme long ago. And it should be clear to anyone who actually went to a creditable high school (although those seem to be rarer than an honest politician now).

If one wants a real laugh, go back and read all the accusations Republicans made about SS during its introduction. Then read the Democrat’s responses.

Each Democrat response is now a fully documented LIE.
Each Republican accusation has been fully proven.

Face it, math is NOT a friend of liberals. It can never be.

I agree entirely, except that it was mainly the parents and the grandparents of the men who fought in WWII who were responsible for the New Deal. Of course, the vets tended to follow in their parents footsteps.

"So kiddos, you're getting screwed by old people who expect you to maintain a system that benefits them at your expense, regardless of their needs or yours."

Narcissism and entitlement run deep with this group.

Sometimes I wonder if one of the reasons their greed is so blatant now is the fear instilled by the Dems.

Works for me. Hey, at least you have a plan instead of just bitching about it.

I agree, to promote the general welfare of the people is simply to not tie the hands of the people who are bringing in the food.

But it is a stand off, first was the socialist social security program to keep the old folks from being in the hair of the younger people.

But by the time the younger generation got old enough to start thinking about their retirement they realized that their off spring was too stupid and lazy to possibly take care of them selves.

If we don,t get the government involved in taking care of the young then our social security checks will go to take care of these little monsters who spend most of the day going around eating expensive junk food and kicking their hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of toys all over the yard.

By the time a child gets 5 years old they have more toys than most 75 year olds has had all of their life.

Encourage the young girls to not get married because we might have a son in law to take care of, after all we know that the way we have raised her that she can not get a real man to take charge because she is too stupid, also to mention we did not raise our boys to be real men.

But if she can get a bastard child then the government will take care of her and she will be the little independent girl you can be proud of, and she will no longer be our responsibility.

Steal from other tax payers to send our kids to college so that they can know how to earn a big income by being employed by the government, because they are too worthless to do any real work for a private company.

We have made a mess of this nation from one end to the other
because we do not do unto others as we would have them do unto us, what we do is to holler about it and force others to do it.

I think it will get much worse, i believe we will see what real hard times are.

I am really proud of the young people who believe in working and providing for them selves.

Speaking in practical terms, Boomers must lower their expectations to real levels. This means not getting the quality of exorbitantly priced medical care that Greatest Generation are now getting, but it doesn’t mean not getting any at all.

This means market forces and what is called “opportunity costs” in economics.

To start with, nobody can afford insurance for routine medical care. Not insurance companies and not the government. But on the plus side, if it is all “out of pocket”, it can be as much as 50% less expensive, because of the much lower overhead.

Likewise, malpractice must be limited to actual damages for malpractice, not just bad luck. Also driving down the price of medical care.

Catastrophic care still needs to be insured, but it is so unprofitable, that it almost has to be by the government, with that insurance “lock boxed” from day 1 in private accounts.

Most likely the vast majority of nursing home care will have to be outsourced to medical “enclaves” built just south of the border. This will take advantage of Mexico’s better legal environment, much lower caregiver to patient ratio, and a lot more non-medical labor support. Quality care but at a much lower price.

A lot of self-inflicted conditions will have to be “out of the system”. Smokers, alcoholics and drug abusers, and the extremely obese will have to take responsibility for their self abuse, and not be given more than palliative care for severe pulmonary conditions, destroyed livers, and the numerous health complaints associated with extreme obesity.

If they want to change and be treated, they need to do so at least a decade before they need to be treated. Their choice.

However, oddly enough, euthanasia does not figure in to this equation, because it is so remarkably easy to murder and call it euthanasia. If they want to commit suicide, they must do so on their own.

...technically, those born between 1946 and 1964 but or all intents and purposes folks 55 years and older - focused on how stupid old people were ..

Ummmm, it was "don't trust anyone over 30", not 'we resent our elders'...

And the oldest boomer is 66... Above that was the 'other generation'. Boomers weren't in class-warfare with those over thirty - we didn't want their money or what they had worked for - we just didn't 'get' their ideas. This guy needs to get his facts straight.
