Dirty little secret in Iowa - you drop the Independents that did not vote any time from the ‘08 general to the present, and the number drops off substantially to less than both parties in most places.

Drop off the same for Reps and Dems and things come out about equal unless the original disparity was huge. Which is not to say Independents still aren’t important, but we have to make sure to turn out the GOP vote too.
