Dirty little secret in Iowa - you drop the Independents that did not vote any time from the ‘08 general to the present, and the number drops off substantially to less than both parties in most places.

Drop off the same for Reps and Dems and things come out about equal unless the original disparity was huge. Which is not to say Independents still aren’t important, but we have to make sure to turn out the GOP vote too.

Problem is: Many in the Conservative ranks of the GOP say they are NOT voting for Romney, no matter what. Many on this website; for example. So, why not go after the Indys whom you at least can count on them voting Republican once you get them to the polls? I dunno; it’s just disheartening when people who are supposed to be on our team won’t play ball because they don’t like the manager.
