Mitt Romney needs to get in Barack Obama's face. For our President with a compliant press and a multitude of minions, confronting the Republican candidate directly is not a necessity. Scurrilous sycophants will act in his stead as proxies with accusations and personal attacks. Mitt has no such luxury. He must transform himself into a latter-day Patton and "attack, attack, attack!"
Nothing should be off the table. It won't be for Barack Obama. Romney needs to bloody our President's face (relax Secret Service, it's a metaphor) with questions about his character, associations, truthfulness, work history and life experiences, as well as his effectiveness as President.
I'm not happy with what I have seen so far. Ten seconds after Chief Justice John Roberts' decision on Obamacare, Mitt should have been on the airwaves, both in person and with advocates and attack ads, labeling the President a "tax and spend" progressive, who has given his name to the largest tax hike in history and is proud of it. After all, it is "still a BFD."
Instead, in the style of John McCain's 2008 Presidential campaign, we had Romney use a surrogate to float a trial balloon agreeing with Obama that the mandate is a penalty and not a tax...or was it the other way around? Obama has taken so many positions it's hard to keep it all straight. First, the mandate was a penalty, then it was a tax, and now it's a penalty again. With the Romney campaign, first it was a penalty and now it is a tax...I think.

He must transform himself into a latter-day Patton and “attack, attack, attack!”??? He needs go take some lessons from Rep. Lt. Col. Allen West.
He showed what he CAN do, back in the primaries when he blasted Newt out of the water. He has surrugates, too, though. Pawlenty and Jindal were blistering in their remarks today as they trailed Obama’s bus tour. Pawlenty looked like he was rehearsing for the role of Attack Dog . . . uh, I mean, Vice-President. Could be.
Repubs will fight by Marquess of Queensberry rules and Dems
will fight by street fighting rules.
I have lived along side Mormons for al most my entire life, nearly 50 years. They are a tough breed of people.
I believe that Mitt has the “go for the jugular” streak in him. He better have.
He needs to throw some punches, and there’s a lot of things to hit, and it doesn’t have to be obamacare. Shouldn’t be too hard. C’mon Mitt.
Mittens is only good at beating up Republican conservatives. Lib Donkeys, not so much. And Mr. Bland Man will pick Sen. Bob Portman (R-IN) for VP (or some other bland, nonthreatening unknown). Mittens wants to lose.
Portman’s not ours.
This assumes Romney disagrees with Obama on any issues.
My thoughts exactly!
How else to gain the "respect" of the DBM? After all, you wouldn't want to be thought of as another Reagan now, would you?
Lose with dignity and they might even let you do commercials for ED or something.
Whatever you do, don't act like some sort of (ugh) conservative.
He seems to be following Dewey’s strategy... which lost.
Myth fights VERY courageously when it involves his perceived
“inheritance” of POTUS-ship from his Mexican father,
OR when it involves his imposition of ObamaCARE/ROmneyCARE.
Yeah yeah. We’ll see. I trust Rasmussen . .. Mitt up by 2, and up or tied in every battleground state.
Neal Boortz really ripped Romey a new one about this on his radio show today. Ripped him good!
Hey Mitt, GROW A PAIR!!
There’s an endless list of things you could call nobama out on. Get started.
Or, do you plan to follow the McCain plan?
Romney only knows how to take his gloves off against Conservatives.
He should put West on the ticket.
We went through the same thing in 2008, and we thought that McLame’s choice of Sarah meant that he would do just that - attack.
Instead, we got a muzzle on Sarah, and a “candidate” who was little more than mealy-mouthed and weak at best. He refused to use the facts that Obama kept hanging him on a silver platter.
Romney, so far, is proving to be just as lame.
Hopefully not. West has a bright future ahead of him.
Even Krauthammer said it tonight. Enough with the “he’s a nice guy” crap. Here’s Obama with the worst economy in 50 years and he’s beating Mittens in most every poll.
This election is a referendum on Obama.
Most people have already made up their minds about Obama, even without really focusing on Romney yet. Obama is stuck at 44% with Rasmussen and a number of other polls. Most of the undecideds will go against the President come November.
Obama only has 34% of the White vote—think about that. It’s another way of saying that he has totally lost the Independents—and he cannot win them back.
Unless Obama can get to 50% or better, I think that Romney will follow classic political wisdom and hammer on “it’s the economy, stupid.”
Let Obama be the one who has to lash out and try to change the subject to anything but the economy — the most important issue and one that he has already lost on.
