(On June 23) Cleveland celebrated Pride Weekend. This event is held each June in celebration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969 which is often revered as the beginning of the LGBTQ civil rights movement. Amongst the celebration and awareness-raising was an unfortunate event which speaks directly to why such events are still necessary and full equality has not yet arrived.
The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland was abandoned by their float driver the morning of the parade when he learned he was participating in the Cleveland Pride Parade, forcing the organization to scramble on the day of a large-scale public event. The driver was employed to make a delivery, yet his biased judgments prevented him from delivering the service for which he contracted. In this day and age, this is completely unacceptable. How can we move forward as a society when behavior such as this is permitted?
As we have all learned in the recent past, teens that are not prepared for such poison all too often commit suicide because they see no acceptance in their community or hope for change.
Its time for our community to send the message to these young people that there is hope and they are loved and accepted through action rather than words alone.

LGBTQ
Ok, so they’ve added a “Q”
Let’s help them out:
LGBTQPMHZN
Q = Questioning
P = Pedophiles
M = Molestors
H = Hedonists
Z = Zoofilists (Beastiality B already taken)
N = Necrophiliacs
Maybe that’ll get them up to the 10% that they’ve touted for so long.
Good for that driver. It sounds like he was not made fully aware that he was supposed to participate in a sick “celebration” of perversion and disease. So he bailed. Most other normal people would bail, too, I suppose.
Actually, no. There is no contract if there is no meeting of the minds. They intentionally withheld relevant information about the "delivery", so there was no meeting of the minds and thus no contract. There is a huge difference between delivering a package/pallet/whatever ten miles in a half hour and driving ten miles in a parade in several hours. Even if you ignore the moral dimension of the message they wanted him to convey, from a business perspective he was lied to. I have also walked out on agreements when I found that the other party was misrepresenting the situation, and I am in complete agreement with his response as a business decision. I do not deal with those who lie to me.
“... what they really mean is “Potentially Recruitable.”
As in “Q” for “questing”?
“they havent thought this through. do they really want an angry ,unwilling float driver?
he/she could just drive it into a light pole at 50 MPH.”
Not as long as the driver is always the first on the scene of the accident.
However, if a corner were taken too fast, queers on parade could be skidding down the asphalt. Just saying.
Oh, you say it was a “Peckers On Parade” parade? OUCH!
;-)
When did we all fall down the rabbit hole?
I ordered a LGBTQ at a restaurant. It’s a lettuce, garlic, bacon, tomato quiche.
Delicious!
No, actually he doesn't. This is the real problem with all of these "special rights" that they give to these protected groups. In the end, it is all other citizens who have their actual constitutional rights taken away. I first began noticing this phenomenon when Mass. started giving children to these people thru adoption. Because the Catholic Church would not do that, they had to stop doing adoptions. So, a Catholic couple who might seek an adoptive child from their church can no longer do so; a pregnant woman who wishes to give her child up for adoption; but, wants the child to have the best home available, which to her, is a mother/father married, can no longer have the confidence that her child won't end up with two men or two women with suspect lifestyles.
A "gay" couple could go to secular agencies that would participate is this questionable practice of giving innocent children to these couples; but, no, NO ONE should be allowed to say no to them. They cannot have anyone with a different viewpoint, allowed to participate in society.
I believe “Q” is for “Questioning”. So, if some confused teen has questions about his/her sexuality, some activist will “help” them figure it out.
“How can we move forward as a society when behavior such as this is permitted? “
I thought gay’s like moving rearward. Not forward.
It’s time to shut them back in the closet and lock the effen door.
Not by me. But I don't have to approve, either. When my two homosexual neighbors lost power during hurricane Ike, I hooked them up to my dryer breaker for a week.
They're good neighbors, and keep their proclivties to themselves - as do I.
While I don't approve, I certainly don't hate them either.
The country need less “Pride” and more humble.
Reminds me of that stupid parade in Chicago a couple of Sundays ago. In addition to the normal collection of freaks, you had our idiot governor Quinn longing for the day when same sex marriage is legal, as well as our lawbreaking attorney general Lisa Madigan, who refuses to defend the marriage law currently on the books in Illinois.
Boy, this state government sucks, but what do you expect from one that's Rat dominated.
Sounds like whoever conducted the hiring discussion kinda forgot to mention that the driver would be participating in a gay parade of exhibitionists and attention hogs.

HA!! :-)
I have seen sites recently where banner reads: “GLBTQQIA: for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, queer, allied and asexual” (!!) So you have REALLY missed out on the “Pride Special” consisting of garlic, lettuce, bacon, tomato, quiche, quail, iceburg lettuce, and avacado!
What happened to the right of free-association?
I suspect that somebody in the company wanted to have an excuse to fire the driver, and knew just that would set him off.
Those libs posting at the article, complaining "he violated his contract" would probably sing a different tune if it were a case of a gay driver being told to drive a sound truck for the Westboro Baptist Church, or a feminist being told to drive a pro-life sign truck.
