The neighborhood watch volunteer who killed Trayvon Martin can be released from jail on $1 million bond while he awaits trial on a second-degree murder charge, a judge ruled Thursday.

I take that back. The $250,000 was for Simpson’s robber case where he tried to take back his memorbilia by force.
In the murder trial, I believe he was held without bond, because of his flight and subsequent chase in the white bronco.
Gangs could kill 60 young black men in Chicago and the New York Times wouldn't send one reporter to cover it...
It's almost like it's political. Liberal elites in the MSM are covering or not covering stories for political reasons... and liberal elite judges are basing bond amounts based on politics...
Is that possible? Are liberal elites that corrupt?
I remember hearing the figure of one million dollars at the time of the hearing--was that what Crump demanded?
Anyway the 8th amendment doesn't seem to apply ("excessive bail shall not be required"). Of course that is for the federal court system--I don't know if the Florida constitution has a similar provision.
Agreed. The amount is outrageously out od proportion to what he is accused of, if past precedent mean anything. This has more to do with a court taking proactive steps to prevent a defendent from being able to afford proper legal services and support his wife and probably intended to force him into a settlement.
The purpose is to pauperize Zimmerman at least until after the trial so he can't afford the lawyers, investigators and expert witnesses to expose the prosecution's lies, conspiracy and false evidence.
There is also the personal motivation. All these state agents will end up like Nifong or worse, if Zimmerman has the dough to expose their activities.
Shouldn’t be on trial at all.
Thats not true at all. - The Bail Bondsman charges 10% to post a surety bond with the court.
If you do not show, the court can attach the Bond for the full amount & the Bondsman sends the bounty hunters after you along with all the LEO that can be mustered.
Additionally, for a case & amount of this magnitude, the bondsman would demand collateral in the full amount.
If you so desire and can afford it, the only way around this is to post the entire amount in cash yourself.
I beleive the bondsman puts up 10%...$100,000 and keeps 10% of that. Zimmerman is out $10,000. The bondsman may charge a premium on top of that. I’m sure if I’m wrong someone will correct me.
I guess your flight risk goes up the richer you are. Because the bail changed, but the accused crime didn’t.
“OJ Simpsons bond was $250,000.”
And that was after he already exhibited to the world on televison that he was a “flight risk”.
Read post 12. I don’t think Simpson got bail after demonstrating he was a flight risk. The $250k was for his memorabilia robbery case.
Democratic Party narrative lynching, for the election of Obama.
It doesn’t matter that the alleged perpetrator is Hispanic or a Democrat himself, not to mention the fact he is obviously innocent.
If Zimmerman needs to come up with full collateral for the bondsman, he can do the same for the court, in which case he only needs the 10%, which he has. ergo no bondsman needed, he gets the 100K back when he shows, and can then pay his lawyer.
The crooked judge and crooked prosecutor are ordered by the Democratic Party to lynch an obviously innocent man, to further the campaign rhetoric of election 2012.
They are only following the orders of the crooked governor.
The court order for everyone’s perusal:

Unless George can come up with the full $1M, he will have to go to a bailbondsman. They charge 10% ($100K), which is nonrefundable. Zimmerman has had $100K “stolen” by this ruling, as he seeks to defend himself.
The bond is a million dollars not $100,000. Where does he find a million dollars worth of anything. For the first bailbond of $150,000 his parents posted their house and he came up with $15,000 in cash for the bail part.
Outrageous.
This poor dude is doomed.
He is being sacrificed at the alter of Political Correctness to protect the Legend Of Saint Trayvon.
Another new restriction is that he must not leave the county in which he is being prosecuted (is it Osceola up there? Dunno).
This gives him fewer places to hide from the assassins (or in the case of the press, character assassins).
He may also have to wear a GPS anklet, which once again gives the assassins an inside shot at him, if the LEO there is sufficiently inept or corrupt.
