I believe it, and have seen it too. If you think some of us are ABO, you should see our service members. They are getting pretty bold in their statements too supporting Romney, something not normally allowed for active duty members.
People need to remember, that is the #1 job of the President; Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. Do we really want our troops saluting Obama one more day?
Yeah, we always DVR it so we can speed through the 'pop tarts' warbling their biggest hits. I always watch the "1812 Overture", because I LOVE the piece, especially the big Army guns booming, and the chimes representing the Bells of the churches of Moscow. I was surprised to hear the Navy Chorus singing, because as many times as I've heard that piece, I'd never heard the hymn. Frankly I was amazed they actually sang it, because it was, literally, a prayer to God to preserve Russia from the attacks of the French.
They did do a medley of patriotic songs, though. I DO love watching the Pops orchestra play "Stars and Stipes Forever". The piccolo section is always my favorite; those ladies LOVE what they do!
We also like the fireworks, and even though they use pop music, we like the way the explosions are timed to the beat of the music.
I fear for those Marines. No insult will go unpunished.
You must have been taking a bathroom break. They played the "1812 Overture" last night, as they have every previous year. It's one of the highlights of the evening for me! Now, I don't know what network you were watching; we saw it on Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB.
Actually, we didn't see a live performance, because the concert had to be suspended, and the Esplanade evacuated because of an impending thunderstorm. The network broadcast, instead, the previous evening's dress rehearsal, but it included choir, guns, and chimes!
Supposedly, after saluting the President when he disembarks, they would not turn to face his back after he returned their salute. However, Snopes is reporting this as false.
I watched it on CBS and I have no idea if it was the local station or the network but I just caught the cannons firing. I had missed everything up to that.
That look on his face when the mariachi band comes out is priceless.
The local station must have aired the entire concert. CBS had the national broadcast...it was only one hour..the 1812 overture was not seen. It may have been due to the weather..I was not aware that the concert had been delayed.
And yet not a single member of Willard’s family going back generations has ever put on the uniform. Ain’t a dime’s worth of difference between Willard and his tan brother Zero.
Yes, I watched for the patriotic songs and messages. All three, NBC, PBS, and CBS, were weak and boring. The fireworks, however, were grand.
The Marines just started getting ready for the Romney presidency. That’s all.
