Lemmings don’t jump into the sea or do anything of the sort actually

the fact is...

“...Driven by strong biological urges, some species of lemmings may migrate in large groups when population density becomes too great. Lemmings can swim and may choose to cross a body of water in search of a new habitat. In such cases, many may drown if the body of water is so wide as to stretch their physical capability to the limit...”

Last week I removed a squirrel that had reached it’s capacity to dogpaddle from the half filled water tank; 2’ by 8’; which the grandkids were using as a pool.

I usually have a board floating in it to prevent this from happening.
