Rep. Darrell Issa managed to push the details of a secret wiretap application from the botched Fast and Furious gunwalking operation into the public domain this week when he entered summaries into the Congressional Record, apparently using Congress protection under the speech and debate clause to get around legal boundaries.
The summary of a March 2010 wiretap application shows that federal agents repeatedly lost track of guns they knew were being trafficked back to cartels in Mexico a violation of Justice Department policy that should have raised red flags with top department officials who signed off on the wiretaps, said Mr. Issa, California Republican and chairman of the oversight committee that is looking into the operation.
Mr. Issa introduced the summary as part of the Houses debate Thursday before lawmakers held a historic vote to to hold Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. in contempt of Congress.
Mr. Issa contends the wiretap application contradicts Mr. Holders claim that nothing in there would have shown gunwalking was going on.

Truth doesn’t matter. Everyone is racist. If you are white or white-hispanic, that is.
Repeat ping. Great info in Post #20 by bcsco. Worth a look.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
My point is look at the paper trail. The head of the committee had the documents, but refused to do much with them. Issa had to do the end around, which may end up hurting the agents who leaked the information. Not to mention payback to Issa or someone else.
At the end of the day, the question is what is the next step? Issa and Grassley have little to no prosecution powers, and Romney is pretty anti gun himself.
Maybe. But the tribal instinct is very, very strong.
The rest of the CBC may hate Holder, but he is one of “theirs” on they will fight for him.
And lets be honest. If the GOP starts going after the drug trade that is connected to members of the CBC, expect attacks on the sweetheart deals the average GOP senator makes that aren’t quite on the up and up. Just about everyone is on the take for something, which is why you don’t see many congressmen prosecuted.
You don’t throw grenades in a dynamite factory.
We need to elect people who will simply do what is right and forget all the back room deals and all of the political “understandings.”
If someone is guilty of felonious actions like this man is, where American agents have died (two we know of and I bet there are more) and hundreds of civilians in Mexico...then forget the damnable “understandings” and put their sorry backsides in prison where they belong.
No “Get out of Jail Free,” card because you’re a Pol and you don’t want our guys prosecuted. If our guys do the same thing...then they aren’t “our” guys any longer. If you are a felon, you are a felon, and deserving of equal treatment under the law just like you or I would be.
Anyhow, that’s how I see and exactly what I would do if I were in a position to.

We need people who will do what is right and damn the political consequences. I think Issa will.
See my post 46.
That kind of 'dirt' can get a man killed, don'tchaknow? The more you know the greater the odds that someone, somewhere will have you 'caulked' just in case you should become an embarrassment, knowwhatImean?

If he lives that long.... just saying.
Yeah, that’s the problem. Thanks Red Steel.
Exactly what this country needs is grenades thrown into the dynamite factory.
DC is a nasty pit of vipers.
Actually, I've sometimes thought it might be better to allow such crooks to flee in exile. If they know they can't escape, they'll be more likely to fight until the bitter end (and might always win). On the other hand, if they know that they'll be better off fleeing now than waiting until things get worse, then although they'd escape justice (unfortunate) we could at least be rid of them.
Fox News just reported that DOJ will not prosecute Holder for contempt.
The King’s DOJ won’t prosecute Holder. Shocker!
F & F is turning into a quagmire. If events continue to reveal the true level of corruption and manipulation taking place at the DOJ and in the Administration, I wouldn’t be surprised if Holder committed suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head twice or being unfortunate enough to be on a plane that flies into the side of a mountain. Maybe even both (see Ron Brown).

Naw...he’ll have a heart attack or anurism while sitting on the toilet.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Obama will pardon Holder, and put an end to it, very quickly. Same as Ford did for Nixon. Maybe on Dec 31st.
This break for Congress will find lots of whistle blowers and maybe even a “Deep Throat” coming forth because of this letter getting into the Congressional record. You may have noticed that there is nobody in the media talking about this move by Issa and the subsequent information from Grassley. Most likely because this opened the barn door for a Pulitzer for someone.
This is a far bigger deal since Obama exerted the EP protection ruse. The bowels of Mordor will be very active during the 4th holiday break with the biggest fireworks to commence when they come back into session on the 10th.
It will be interesting to see how Cummings changes his tune since that letter shows him to be a certifiable liar. Cummings will be the next undercarriage rider of the Obama bus. So Rep. Cummings, how’s that Hopey-Changey thing workin’ out for ya?
Obama is in the dragnet because he exerted EP when he knew there was none. Abuse of power and covering up a crime just to start with.
I wonder if the media will declare this DOJ employee a hero for coming out with this information? /s
