Yes, Obama and the Democrats are entitled to a bit of a victory lap today, after Chief Justice Roberts searched deeply within his political self and found a path to uphold ObamaCare.
Today's ruling will probably go down in history as the most effective GOP voter turnout operation ever. There is only one way to repeal ObamaCare and that is through the ballot box. It will happen.
Obama campaigned on a promise to never raise taxes on any families earning less than $250,000 a year. Today, the Court called the mandate for what it is...a tax. In doing so, it acknowledged that, not only did Obama break his campaign promise, but he and his leftist allies have ushered in the largest tax hike in history. They will go with that record into the voting booth in November.
From a nakedly partisan viewpoint, today's ruling is the best case scenario for the GOP. ObamaCare is still deeply unpopular and now the only way to undo it is to sweep Obama and dozens of Democrats out of office.
Roberts may have pulled off the ultimate Jedi Knight mind trick. He upheld the law by framing it as a tax, which runs counter to Obama's campaign promises. He has ensured that the only way to appeal the law is to prevail, across the board, in November. That was ultimately always the case.
Patriots around the country will now realize that there is no cavalry on the horizon. If we want to preserve our liberties, we will have to fight for it. Patriots and Independents now have a singular reason to show up at the polls in November. This focus will doom Obama's reelection campaign.
Today, I donated to a congressional candidate who is committed to repealing ObamaCare. What did you do?

I guess we can try to repeal it.
But get ready for John McCain and the RINOs and the usual gang of idiots to kill it in the Senate (if they can override Harry Reid’s filibuster.)
Fight this year’s battle this year, 2014’s battle then.
Elect enough Movement Conservatives in 2014, those battles will never happen.
But most of all, fight the 2012 battle every day until November 7th.
NEVER underestimate the media’s (and the democrat’s!) ability to SPIN ANYTHING to their advantage...
.. or the number of dumb sheep that will believe it.
“Not all will play the game. Look for an increase in civil disobedence....”
wait until all the truly productive We the People decide there’s more to be derived from pouring sand in the gears than in enabling a communist government appear capitalist.
So, are you going to go home and give up, or fight?
on the contrary.
because I do not underestimate them I am more motivated to counter their attempts and vote.
you misread me.
Mark Levin could really run with that on his show.
When you say “fight”, what exactly are you proposing?
Fight?
As hard as I can,
Unfortunately restricted to what is legal,
To win!
OK, but still vague. And what is the prize?
It doesn't matter who wins in Nov. The Court just said the US Congress can require us to buy ANYTHING. It's just a matter of time until good little libs get into office and begin requiring us to buy all kinds of new "taxes".
Comments0 WASHINGTON The House voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to repeal Medicare's catastrophic care program, which Congress had enacted just 16 months ago as a major expansion of health benefits for the elderly. That was October 05, 1989. Rats controlled Congress. Medicare recipients were outraged. Obamacare affects all adults. Don't be surprised by a tidal wave in November. The rats recruited many so called moderates and centrists to take the Congress in 2006 in many so called "red" states. All of the rat senators up in 2012 and 2014 voted for Obamacare. The 360-66 vote culminated a determined protest campaign by retired persons who were outraged by the special surtax levied on the elderly to provide the bulk of the money for the new benefits.
Any pubbie who wants to increase taxes will be primaried. Rats won't be passing any laws for some time to come, if ever.
P.S. Red is the color ofthe left.
You missed my point.
The Court just gave Congress unlimited tax power.
They can force us to buy anything as long as they call it a “tax”.
Let me give you a parallel.
Our government sold guns to Mexican drug gangs. We haul in Eric Holder and confront him. He smiles and tells us “Don’t worry: not all of the guns have been used in gun crimes.”
But the gangs still have the guns!
Same thing here.
Yes - our Congress can repeal this.
And the next Congress can make us buy Chevy Volts, solar panels on our homes, bottles of wine from Pelosi’s vineyard.
As long as they call it a “tax” they have the court’s blessing.
There is NOTHING stopping them.
Our Republic is dead.
Yeah - you’d better be real careful who you vote for from now on. You vote wrong ONE TIME and we’re all screwed.
And maybe Roberts DID think he wanted to smack an unruly America across the butt for letting things get to the juncture that an Obamacare was even possible — but that is not what he was hired to do. He was hired to defend the constitution, period.
4 Stars would be a good start.
All Roberts did was to recognize the Congress has the power to tax. His comments are just dicta. There were NOT fives votes to expand the scope of the commerce clause.
They can force us to buy anything as long as they call it a tax.
They'll be voted out of office at the first chance, and such foolery will be repealed.
2010 was just a start. Only one third of the Senate is up every two years. There are 23 rat seats in the Senate that are at risk in 2012, of which 7 are open, and almost as many rat seats in the Senate that are at risk in 2014. There's no tolerance for new spending when we already have a mountain of debt as big as our annual GDP, if not greater! The Tea Party isn't going away.
"All Roberts did was to recognize the Congress has the power to tax. His comments are just dicta. There were NOT fives votes to expand the scope of the commerce clause."
No.
Au contraire!
"They'll be voted out of office at the first chance, and such foolery will be repealed."
Nancy Pelosi wasn't. Harry Reid wasn't. Chuck Rangel wasn't. Chuck Schumer wasn't.
Pelosi is probably in one of the safest seats in the country. Reid won a questionable election against a weak nominee. Rangel may not keep it.(1) Chuck U Schumer may well wear out his welcome. Both CA and NY have had surprising upsets, e.g Gray Davis was recalled; James Buckley replaced Charles Goodell in 1970; D'Amato replaced Javits in 1980; Giuliani replaced Dinkins in 1993; Pataki replaced Mario Cuomo in 1994.
This is the leadership when the next radical band of lefties take over.
They'll probably be dead or in nursing homes,IMHO. You have no idea how badly they have screwed themselves. Current polls do not reflect the reluctance of those polled to admit that that they oppose Obama's policies. They don't want to appear racist, even though those polled are appalled at his policies.
"The Tea Party isn't going away."
Sooner or later, the left is going to win again. And when they do, they're going to build on top of what Obama has done.
There is nothing to stop them.
The interest on %15 trillion of debt will not permit bribes as usual to the factions among the rats any more. Conservatives will make common cause with independents and libertarians for fiscal conservatism, IMHO because we are borrowing over 40 cents for every dollar being spent.
You're ignoring the erosion in his base with blacks(2) and working class whites(3), especially for his attacks on the coal industry and blocking development of oil and natural gas. When was the last time the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee told members of Congress not to attend the Democratic National Convention?(4). Political advertisements about Fast and Furious will be fast and furious in the southwest and battleground states. That will depress Latino turnout.(5).
I wonder if the Jacksonian Democrats can remain a viable member of the rats' coalition(6).
I could go on. Obama's de facto amnest for illegal aliens. Reverse discrimination now extended to Orientals. Suffice it to say that the GOP got sixty percent of the white vote in 2010 for the first time in history. There's no reason to expect it to decrease in the future if the GOP has some gonads and common sense.(7)
