Walter Mondale, Arne Carlson join fight against voter ID amendment

Former Democratic Vice President Walter Mondale and former Republican Gov. Arne Carlson became the public faces of a fight against a proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment requiring voters to present photo IDs at the polls.

The pair was introduced Tuesday, June 27, as two of four co-chairs of the Our Vote Our Future coalition's campaign against the ballot measure. Voters will decide in November whether to make government-issued photo identification essential to participating in an election.

The coalition's advisory committee is decidedly heavy with former Democratic officeholders.

This spring, the Republican-controlled Legislature advanced the measure to the ballot without the support of any Democratic lawmakers. Constitutional amendments don't go before the governor, so Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton had no chance to stop a proposal he opposed. A lawsuit aiming to keep the amendment off the ballot is pending.

Only loser RINO Romney can save Obama, now.

Just like 2008.

If treason can be a capitol offense because it undermines the very foundations and confidence of the system that the republic is based on, why not voter fraud. If the people believe that voting does not matter then restoring that trust would take generations. I would make that law.

Mondale should not be taken seriously . Then again, outside of Minnesota, no one really ever did take ol’ Fritz too seriously.

That’s pretty obvious.

Whenever they express a concern, and that concern is addressed, they move on to another “concern”.

Whenever someone does this - expresses a concern and then moves to a different one (not previously stated) when that concern is addressed,

you know they have a different “concern” that they don’t want to express.

Catch your/myself doing it as well.

I looked up the word RINO in my dictionary. It said “See Arne Carlson”.

A bottle of beer, a pack of smokes, a plane trip to Chicago, or a can of spray paint- You need a state photo I.D. to buy any of these, yet the state of MN doesn’t even have this simple requirement in order to vote.

There are only two sides here: Those who want to stop fraud and those who will be irreparably harmed if the fraud is not allowed to continue.

The ONLY reason to oppose VOTER ID is to game the system and allow unqualified and dead people to vote... no other reason. These cretins deserve a trial and a hanging.

A humanist worldview leads one to believe that perfection can be achieved here on earth if only the right systems and environments are established.

This perfection is the “end” that justifies any “means” necessary.

Anyone opposing voter ID should be HAMMERED with the accusation that they want voter fraud. And, we can even pull the ol’ “fallacy of the complex question” on them -

“why do you want voter fraud?”

Of course, we always hear “there is no voter fraud”.
My answer to that is “then you shouldn’t have ANY problem with requiring ID, because it won’t affect vote totals at all”.

“Is he still alive?”

That was my first thought, also. Guess the dems are pulling out the “big guns” for this battle (lol)!

How many people in Minnesota still know who Carlson and Mondale are?

How many people in Minnesota still know who Carlson and Mondale are?

Unfortunately, too many know who they are and like them. The rest are or lean conservative.

I agree, I have no trouble showing my DL to vote even tho it isn’t required here. I think that only those who have something to hide or are trying to game the system are the ones trying to keep anyone from having to provide an ID to vote.

Liberals believe they know better than anyone the course this country should take; they further believe this sagacity justifies advancing their "ism" through any means. Cheating and fraud then become permissible because, in their view, it done is for the greater good of advancing Liberalism.

Why do conservative leaders do so horribly with explaining their stance? This (among various other issues) could be easily explained and defended to the public. You need ID’s for everything! And what about SAT’s? ID is checked very intensely there. Isn’t that a form of keeping the poor person down? Don’t they want minorities to go to college?

Walter Mondale

That old farts still alive?!? I thought he was just about knocking on deaths door when they drug him out of the Shady Acres Retirement home to replace Wellstone on the ballot back in 2002.
