I think the Justices have telegraphed the results. Here's why.

I probably need a beer and a John Wayne movie.

Smartest advice I've heard all week. Week is young yet.. but still...

Take a deep breath.

And at the end of it all? You're gonna be as dead as I will be, and then the sun blows into a red giant and eats Terra.

We're made out of stardust, we go back (eventually, after billions of years) to stardust.

Sometimes we just have to take a step back and get a little perspective.

You are a walking dead man, just like me. Get over it. I did. ;)

Since my goal was to interject humor into an otherwise pointless thread, I think my work here is done.

>>I think that at the least, the individual mandate will be struck down.<<

My understanding is that the authors of the legislation made the error of not including a severability clause.

I the individual mandate falls, the whole sha-bang goes down.

lol, agreed Shower and Juan is not a good combo and he does seem a little more irrational than usual lately.

I think if it’s upheld it will energize obama’s base as well as some undecideds, after all nothing succeeds like success. Can you imagine the 5 month victory lap with the msm talking about nothing else. grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Even if they uphold it, that does not make it mandatory. We can still defund and eliminate it legislatively.

Whatever they decide, Barry will still act as king as long as he’s in the White House. If the ruling stands, the country votes him out. Perhaps a little late, but the Catholic Church has just started A Fortnight for Freedom, inviting all parishioners to pray for religious freedom in our country. In the meantime, keep up the good fight and keep the faith. :)

3. Liberals never care about being thought fair and balanced. Liberals never throw bones to conservatives. More importantly, SC Justices don’t need to do either.

Not necessarily. Mark Levin excoriated this decision today on radio. He was especially upset that Roberts joined the liberal coalition to strike down 3 parts of the law, and the 4th part can be “revisited” at a later date (by a lower court). He also said that the Arizona law is basically Federal law which is not being enforced. His group, Landmark Legal, wrote an amicus brief and actually said that if this is struck down, every sanctuary state and city, and any state with in state tuition breaks for illegals should sue their state/city as the Supreme Court has just ruled that only the Feds have jurisdiction over matters of immigration.

You had to hear him go... he was on fire. So, I believe all bets are off.

It won’t be upheld it has no basis in law.

If ZerOcare is not overturned, there no longer exists a need for a SC.

Well, of course, you need a beer or six. We all do.
On it’s face, the Arizona decision does seem incorrect. However, it’s not the Court’s role to force Zero to enforce the law on the books when that was not the issue presented to the Court. That’s a political issue, at least until it is properly framed for review.
I read what seems like a good idea on a thread earlier today: Why doesn’t Arizona sue ICE et al., for the costs it has incurred due to Zero’s refusal to enforce the law? Otherwise, it seems to me, it’s up to Congress to force the executive to protect our borders as provided by law.
I am not nearly as pessimistic as some about Obamacare passing muster. The mandate is obviously unconstitutional. Even a caveman or cavewomen or cavechild or cavehound could figure that out. As for the rest of the law, I have no idea what SCOTUS will do.
Although Scalia’s dissent in the Arizona case is compelling, I think one could reasonably argue that the Court determined that it’s the feds job to protect our borders under the Constitution. Extrapolating that decision to the upcoming Obamacare decision, seems to me, the Court is following, or attempting to follow, Constitutional dictates, which bodes quite poorly for the individual mandate. The CC clause cannot justify the mandate.
Now, I will go get a beer.

I don’t know if it is too late, the the petulant asshat in the white house hopefully caused one of those who would vote to uphold the deathcare act to not vote for it as kind of a FU back at him for his actions.

I hear Roberts wrote the majority opinion.

Would Roberts really write a majority opinion forcing U.S. citizens to buy something?

“I Think They’ve Upheld”

If they've upheld the patently unconstitutional individual mandate, then I'll be forced to agree with Obama regarding their irrelevancy, albeit for a different reason.
