The only cases of monarchs becoming tyrants is when their rule is absolute, that I can see, or if they themselves establish a one-party state (hence an oligarchy). None of the 20th Centurys worst tyrants have been monarchs.
BTW, there are many in Germany that wish for a return of their monarchy. Not all of them are Catholic.

Germany a model?
If if remember correctly Germany began 2 great wars during the 20th Century. At a cost???
German culture is fatally flawed. They have forever accepted central authority without question to the point of despotism.

(Government, even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one)

A careful reading of the Declaration will strongly support your contention. Jefferson attacked the King for violating the social compact that was a functioning Government, and for letting Parliament pass odious laws, interfering with the Colonists' basic rights. (See
Declaration Of Independence--With Study Guide.)
In Nations with a largely non-homogeneous population, a benevolent Monarchy is often the best way to protect minority ethnic groups from what we see daily in much of the world. Popular Government requires a fundamental agreement on cultural values; hence it has only worked in a few places, for an extended period of time.
William Flax [Continuity, not "Diversity!"] As the Leftists create greater diversity, via the present insane immigration policy, the days of popular Government in America are severely threatened.
