Nik Wallenda says hes like a kid on Christmas morning, about to live a dream hes had since he was six years old, when he first visited Niagara Falls and decided he wanted to walk across it.
Now hes about to attempt it for real, crossing the Falls on a specially-installed 1,800 foot, 2-inch steel cable for a live television special Friday night.
Ive done walks higher, Ive done walks longer, but none will compare to this, he says.
Wallenda has been wire walking almost since he took his first baby steps.as a child. He comes from seven generations of trapeze artists and tightrope walkers including his grandfather Karl Wallenda, who died after falling off a tight rope in Puerto Rico in 1978 at age 73.

I live near there and I am going to swee it live
This is in honor of tioga’s 39th birthday. ;^)
Is this on Fox or abc?
How could this be? Have they mentioned this to Baraq?
I remember the video of his grandfather(?) Karl, falling to his death in Puerto Rico.
No thanks...I dont care to watch this guys death wish.
It will be aired on ABC live.
There will be no death, Vaquero. He will be tethered to a harness - and if he DOES fall, he will climb back up to the tightrope.
The winds at Niagra Falla can be sudden and wicked - so I am glad he will be secured.
Skill is being able to traverse Niagra Falls on a tightrope.
Intelligence is declining to do it.
Seriously, I hope it goes well.
Philippe Petit "When I see three oranges, I juggle; when I see two towers, I walk." |
If this is like every other stunt ever broadcast, don’t bother tuning in until last 15 minutes and skip the 45 minutes of hype.
NIAGARA FALLS!!! Slowly I turned.....step...by....step...........inch....by....inch.....
I wish I could swee.
classic
Funny thing though - after the WTC walk, he got a job with the circus, performing about forty feet in the air. He fell and broke a few ribs.
Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!
“He will be tethered to a HARNESS - and if he DOES fall, he will climb back up to the tightrope.”
Grandpa Wallenda is rolling over in his grave.
That Frenchman could never find underwear his size. Balls too big.

So I hope this guy has fun walking on his tightrope tethered to a harness. I'll be outside mowing my lawn.
The story is that ABC required him to be tethered so they could promise the audience that he wouldn't die on camera.
Took all the fun out.
