In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper

In Case You Don't Like Romney...

Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election …

“If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky….”

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:

'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'

Did that get your attention!

I’ll point the boat towards the island where the conservatives are. Oh, you didn’t see that one?

Simple. Only need a few, your strawman argument aside.. Better to die on one’s feet than live on one’s knees. A famous dude said that once. Some of us actually took him seriously.

I didn’t see it because it didn’t exist. The only thing you know is who governs the islands. Your kids just drifted into oblivion.

It doesn't exist for you, bramps. You're blind.

In his world there is only the neverending struggle to support one GOP slap in or face after another. The concept that people have other voting options never occurs.

Thing is, if all the Romney voters would stand on principle and write in an actual conservative, we wouldn’t have a problem. But the GOP is are the way truth and light and we infidels are just crazy I guess..

Good news! You and Planned Parenthood are on the same page:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/30/planned-parenthood-ads-to-target-romney/

Please either produce the statement in which Romney says he currently supports Planned Parenthood and any statement where he ever said he supports gay marriage or stop the lies. It says something that you have to use lies to back up your argument. Something liberals do every day.

That has to be one of the stupidest analogies ever.

A much more apt analogy is we are passengers on the ship of state. We have to people who want to be Captain. Both are careless and beholden only others. One promises to run the ship into an iceberg at full speed and the other promises to run the ship into an iceberg at a slightly slower speed.

Who do I support to be captain?

Neither, I'm getting into the damn lifeboat before either one of them can sink the ship.

This is too stupid to be serious. Mitt who personally donated to PP? Mitt who signed gay marriage into Mass. Law?

Your boat of credibility just went over Niagra.

“I’ve been trapped in Mass. for 73 years. It’s torture!!”

Interesting homepage statement...So you didn’t notice the gay marriage/PP stuff when it happened? Not exactly on top of local politics are we?

By ‘stupid’ you mean you simply refuse to answer.

How about if there were no life boats in your scenario? I’d pick the captain that would take longer to get to the iceberg and then pray and plan on what may happen in that extended time. What would you do if there were no life boats?

No! By stupid, I mean stupid!

And if their are no lifeboats, then the only wise choice is to mutiny and take the ship away from both of the idiots that intend to run into the iceberg.

You, actually would support a Captain who intends on taking the ship into an iceberg and rely solely on a hope and prayer that you survive?

Unbelievable!

Did you support Reagan? H.W. Bush? Both supported abortion at one point in the political lives? Please read my still standing question and note the specific use of the word ‘CURRENT’.

Bramps, we can plainly see where you’re coming from and where your questions lead. The two main problems you’ve posed on this long thread both rely on backing the listener into a corner and demanding they give you an answer they don’t want to and then chastising them in advance for not answering the way you think they’ve been trapped.

This style of setting up leading hypotheticals is not a pleasing form of discussion and sounds a lot like other posters on FR who like to bully those who choose not to vote for Romney.

The problem with giving credence to Romney's CURRENT position is that:

A. Actions speak louder than words.

B. Romney's own campaign manager said it was etch-a-scetch - meaning his CURRENT positon will change as he sees fit.

It’s easy to add facts as you go ,huh? Why didn’t you just take over the ship in the first place? I simply answered your question as it was INTENDED by you.

It’s not complicated. Your ethics come with a caveat. You are willing to set them aside if the price is right. In this case, that price is Obama. You want to vote for Romney? That’s 100% your right. But please do not insult the intelligence of anyone capable of forming a logical thought with the claim that a person doing so is ‘conservative. You nay share many conservative beliefs.

But when the chips are down on such a clear cut and defining issue, you stand with a liberal. Period.

Exceptionally well said.
