Hi Betty...a couple of things.
First, having dealt with Situational ethics nearly my entire ministry, and that in theological contexts, I do know that there is such a thing as a “situational” Christian. (By extension, I conjured up a “situational conservative” which never entered the discussions so much back then, but does sound logical.) So, to contend that I stripped them of their Christianity is reading a bit too much into my comments. As always, I could have written it poorly, so now you know more completely my meaning.
As to there being a forgotten middle, I would say that I’ve not forgotten the middle at all. Romney’s history is not that of a middle-of-the-roader.
I could go down the checklist at the Romneytruthfile, but I’ll just call everyone’s attention to it, and say that it supports every claim about the liberalism of Mitt Romney.
On top of that, Romney himself came out little more than a month ago in favor of gay couples. Moreover, he said that at a state level they should be allowed to adopt children.
This violates thousands of years of Christian teaching on the subject.
So, if a Christian can’t see that red flag and know they’re getting into the territory of situationism, then they need to do a little praying or studying or both.
My sense, Sister, is that those who accede to pro-homosexual politicians will sow the seed of homosexual acceptability within their own sphere of influence.
And Romans one associates pro-homosexualism with anti-Theism, although in reverse order of causality.

I called you that? Really? Wow. I have better things to do than waste time going back and forth on this. I addressed it to a specific blatant anti-Mormon rant, and I stick by it... And no, I’m not Mormon.

Do I have that right? Is that really your analysis.
Not quite. If you go through my post history you'll find your summary is a pretty shallow scratch on a marketing analysis. It goes a lot deeper and focuses on the damage Romney will do to the republican "brand" and how that undoes the progress we've made and makes future battles far more difficult. Allowing Romney to redefine "conservatism" is a dramatic, expensive, and far reaching error. But, I'll understand if you didn't get that message; it is better suited for a board room than a blog.
Are you also comparing the nation today to 1857? Americans are waking to the threat that we face and are acting on it or did you miss the 2010 midterms and the Wisconsin recall?
FRiend, I live in Wisconsin; those are my boots on the ground helping Scott Walker. I know the facts, the statistics, and the monumental effort it took to defend him during this recall. I also firmly believe Obama will succeed in Wisconsin in November. Why? Because Obama's opposition here is comprised of hard-working, church-going, family-loving, Constitution-regarding, small-business owning grass-roots conservatives. To such a population, Romney embodies numerous detestable qualities. We just won't get fired up to support him like we did Walker. Any *real* conservative could have turned Wisconsin red this election. But for most of us, Romney falls into enemy camp territory and we won't go there. Call it honor, pride, wisdom, whatever.
I only have Virgil Goode's record to use when examining his character. I POST'd his OnTheIssues page on FR a couple time. This is the same basis I uses to examine Romney's character. The comparison is not even close. I can't see the future -- who will be a Benedict Arnold and who will not. But I can assign a probability of it statistically. Given the two choices I'd put my faith in Goode over Romney any day. I would trust Goode at my political back -- not so for Romney.

Got news for you. I don't like Romney. But I hate Obama...
I'm ABO, like a vast majority of the folks here. Check my nearly 500 posts here and tell me where I pimp Romney and his views... I love our country.. And don't want Obama to destroy it further. Disagree? Too bad, you're entitled to your views... I'm entitled to mine.

I have posited my theory that there are only 30 people on Free Republic who have a rabid hatred of Romney to the point that it has destroyed all reason.
My theory is that these people, though few in number, have created a feeling that they represent many or most of us because of their sheer persistence and multiple posts, many of which are cut and paste.
I now feel it is my duty to go through these posts and see if I can add any new names to my list, which now numbers 27.
But I dont want to. However, I probably will and will let you know the actual number later.
I seem to recall a few years ago when another poster was threatening to assemble what was essentially a 'hit list' of FReepers they didn't agree with or approve of, and that former poster got the .
Perhaps your mileage may vary.

I am not choosing Obama over Romney, I'm recognizing the beginning of the end for our nation and encouraging my fellow Freepers to stay blameless before God on this issue. I am choosing God over Obama and Romney. The nation is going down, it's too late to change course.
