The story leaves much to be desired. Why did they impound the ammunition? It is not illegal to store ammunition in your home. Many citizens have much more stored than the amounts listed here. I know target shooters who have three times as many rounds in their house.

Why did they impound the ammunition?
They are still trying to peddle the “lax U.S. gun laws are responsible for Drug Cartel violence” B.S..
Unless they have evidence of another crime, this is an illegal seizure.

Many citizens have much more stored than the amounts listed here. I don't believe there were any 'citizens' living in that house, from the description.

marktwain,
Lady friend of mine is an EMT firewoman in Duval county, Florida. (Jacksonville) She is in rural western part of the county and I asked, soooo, since there are no really big tall building in your area, what is the danger?
She said, “ everyone” out here be it a mansion or a single wide trailer has an arsenal.
Ya never know when said arsenal is going to go off.
Don’t be around me house if it catches fire.

10,000 7.62-caliber rounds; 8,000 .223-caliber rounds; 5,000 9 mm rounds; 5,000 .38 Super rounds; 3,500 .45-caliber rounds; and 1,000 10 mm rounds. THAT is unlawful now?
Lucky I lost all of mine in that boating accident this spring I guess.

I know target shooters who have three times as many rounds in their house. You've got to be kidding.
At the price of ammo now? It would take a second mortgage.
But I know what you mean. I have a battle box full of 1,440 round and thought that was a lot.

I have more than that within 5 feet of me, and probably 10x that total stashed away... before the boating accident, of course.

I purchased much of my SHTF ammo during the clintoon years.
The value of that investment has kept pace with the increase in the price of gold.
Still - 32K rounds is a good start, but one shouldn’t stop there.

Piker. I use mine as as coffee table. :)
I’m kinda suspect that the 10mm and .38super are for drug cartels. Price would be cheaper.

Interesting...
5,000 .38 Super rounds
This is a round very rarely seen these days, outside of competition shooting. USPSA/IPSC "race guns" are usually chambered for .38 Super, due to the fact that they can be classed as "major caliber" while having a much lower recoil than other major caliber rounds. And much safer than trying to load 9mm to major caliber power factors.
10mm would also be unusual for criminal use. I wonder if they actually busted a competition shooter - That amount of ammo for a competition shooter would last less than a month.

Interesting that they would have so much .38 Super. It’s not as common a caliber as 9mm or .45.

32k rounds is not a lot of ammo. I used to have more than that, until the tragic boating accident took almost half, after the flood that washed away the other half.

Drug cartels use .38 Super and 10mm? Something stinks about that right there.
