"I'm going (to support him) because it's my responsibility and, frankly, almost anything is going to be better than Obama," said Steve Troxel, chairman of the Lynchburg Republican Party in swing-state Virginia.
"The emerging consensus among conservatives is that the Republican House will lead the conservative charge and Romney will be in the White House to sign bills, rather than advance his own agenda," said Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak, who supported Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the primary. "Conservatives don't universally claim Romney as one of their own, but they appear to have united behind him, perhaps reluctantly, but without question."

I’d be happy to have the states BUY back the land to reduce the federal debt. But if we can even force the federal government to simply release it, there are umpteen federal agencies that would no longer be needed & Romney, being a reasonable human (I hope) would shut them down.

I’m just sick of watching so called conservatives telling each other fairy tales in an attempt to build support. Lord Mittless won’t be pushed to the right and there will be no GOP challenge in 2016.
His supporters are spending as much time trying to drag us left as they are promising that Romney will be dragged right.

It's possible the Democrats will pick up on the Crist story and begin bing bonging that stuff off Mitt's closest staff people ~ mess him up going into the convention ~ make him look like a deluded idiot as he tries to find new staffers to tell him what he's supposed to say and do.
There is a point at which Mitt can be made to seem inadequate enough that the Democrats will actually get their own peeps out to vote. I was kind of hoping they'd just stay home, but this is the Foley/Craig gambit coming their way and I don't see old pervs like Axelrod letting that go past without a nibble of some kind.
Our local tea party group was approached with promises of power in the early spring. All we had to do was encourage Bachmann, Paul, and Cain to leave the race. I can’t say the guy was a Romney surrogate but he was no tea partier. We’re small town and rural people and we have our own individual thoughts and someone among us supported virtually every candidate.
I do know that any support Romney had among our tea party group had, crashed when the rules were changed in our state to save Mitt from the indignity of a tie. Right and wrong are important to us ignern’t hillbillies.
In that case, I will support Virgil Goode for POTUS, and GOP conservatives down ticket.
Romney will fight the conservatives in Congress tooth and nail, and, unlike with Obama, they will be powerless to fight back, because the leader of the Republican Party can’t be fought by the same party. His Obama like bills will become law.

He signed up in 2009. You can imagine which campaign he has been working for.
That is the kool-aide they have been trying to get everyone to sip on.
As I"ve explained numerous times the American electorate is always pretty much balanced 50/50 around two poles, or modes in a bi-modal saddle. It's not 35/65 nor even 45/45 ~ it's really really really close to 50/50. That's why a movement by a minority group of some kind (racial, economic, age, social, linguistic, geographic) can tip the scale and give the victory almost unexpectedly to a different person than most pundits and experts thought possible.
Irrespective of the polling, imagine who is going to show up to vote in November. There will be a minimum of 130 million voters ~ that's 65 million to each side with a few here and there to the very small body of "independents' who in habit the 'fringe' between the two modes. (Note, Obama received more Democrat votes than anyone in history. George Bush received more Republican votes than anyone in history. All other Democrats and Republicans received fewer votes).
I have have no doubt Obama has upset a lot of his most avid fans. If they don't show up he could receive as few as 59 million (like Kerry who received the second highest total of votes). That'd put him about 3 million behind George Bush' 62 million. But that'd be a loss of as many as 9 million voters from what happened in 2008!
That's roughly a 15% switch ~ which would be absolutely incredible in anyone's book. Romney, or whoever, would eek out something less than a landslide even with that amount of defection from the Democrats.
The problem here is that with a squeaker like that there won't be any coat-tails for down ticket candidates.
A loss of 3 million Conservative voters would erase the difference between the two candidates ~ and entail about 5% loss of total Republican votes.
In a really tight race where Obama is pulling 60 million and Romney 60 million, it's a toss-up!
Romney's advisors have to look at the possibility that even with 100% of the unqualified Republican vote, and massive defections to non-voting status by 9 or even 10 million Democrat (that is, 2008 Obama) voters, their boy can still lose with a minor blip in Republican voting patterns and they could find themselves both losing the election AND losing control of the House and certainly of the Senate.
The way I see it Romney has to fire all his professional staff now and hire on people with no affiliation with party RINOs. Then, he has to purge the gay blades ~ the public holds us accountable for those guys even if they don't care about the Democrats.
He must also sign on to a Manifesto of Objectives agreed to by Conservative and TEA Party personalities throughout the party as well as the blogosphere (however that might be done ~ JR can figure it out).
Short of that, Romney cannot attract the Conservative base and will probably lose the race in an election where there are MASSIVE Democrat defections.

I truly do understand the principle behind a conservative who cannot vote for Romney. I was one.....who has now changed my mind. But to have ANY conservative wishing and hoping for democrat control is just beyond any sense whatsoever.
Absolutely. There’s a simple test. If I see Romney on the TV screen, I turn it up because I don’t mind looking at him and I want to hear what he has to say, which, by the way, I usually like.
If I see Obama on the TV screen, I change the channel quickly.
Even now his more rabid supporters are looking around for scapegoats to blame for that defeat. They've latched onto regular Conservatives.
With or without support we can't win with Romney and we need someone else.
Remember, 2008, Obama got 69 million. McCain got 59 million.
Obama has to lose 15% of his 2008 voters to end up with as many votes as our best vote getter ever got!
A realistic appraisal is that it is very unlikely that even Obama is going to suffer a 15% loss of Democrat voters, and it's Democrats we are talking about ~ not people who discuss things rationally like we do.
Sarah Palin was kind of my idol. I was all for her run for presidency. Oh, the fights I got into with people who were cynical about her.
Gee whiz, if I could get that energy back I’d clean out the refrigerator.
I still like her but I’m not waiting for her endorsement on anybody. She endorsed Cruz for Texas Senate and I’m still voting Dewhurst.
In fact, she’s losing respect from me the longer she holds out against a Romney endorsement.
