The 2012 Campaign Through the Eyes of ‘Walmart Moms’
Roll Call ^ | June 9, 2012 | By Shira Toeplitz

Posted on 06/09/2012 7:18:39 AM PDT by SMGFan

Forget Seamus, the Ryan budget or even the “War on Women.” Undecided female voters didn’t even mention some of the 2012 cycle’s most-hyped news topics in a pair of focus groups on Wednesday evening.

Walmart sponsored the 90-minute focus groups, which were organized by a bipartisan team of pollsters: Margie Omero of Momentum Analysis and Alex Bratty of Public Opinion Strategies. Moderators questioned two groups of “Walmart Moms” — self-described undecided voters who shop at the store at least one a month — in Richmond, Va., and Las Vegas.

It’s a surprisingly rare opportunity for inside-the-Beltway reporters to hear out undecided female voters at length. Even on the campaign trail, interviews often last a few minutes with the most quotable participants. Nonetheless, these women are exactly the fought-over voters for whom campaigns clamor in the final weeks of an election.

Here are a few takeaways from the questioning session:

1. Don’t underestimate the power of the first family’s image with female voters.

OK, so..... I admit to shopping at Wal-Mart quite a bit. Not due to changed circumstances, due to being economically responsible. Jeez. And, the women (and men) I see are not disgusting, lazy or stupid. Unless, I am just one of those you all laugh at.

The primary question I have about this focus group of WalMart Moms is exactly how many of there are on EBT, WICs, etc.

Any woman that places more emphasis on “what’s going on with the First Daughters” or “how many women our pResident is surrounded by” are grossly, grossly out of touch. Further, this “Romney put working people out of jobs” crap is just Democrat/Obama talking points.

My opinion is that these women are nowhere near representative of mothers who are part of a family that actually contributes to America by paying their fair share....Bogus focus results.

These moms are undecided in their vote for president. Most are going to be assessing what the candidates propose for improving the economy. In fact, when asked to choose between domestic, social, economic and foreign issues, the economy is by far the number one item on these moms’ checklist.

” I read the article, and I can’t believe that most American women who shop at Wally World are this stupid.”

Ya gotta be kidding me? Have you looked at the pictures of the women of Wally World? Better yet. Go to your local Wally World and do some people gazing. Watch them in the check out line. The majority pay with their official food stamp debit card.

“This is a bunch of bullshit. I love how they make it appear as though not one single negative thing was said by anybody about obama. This was a campaign piece if ever I saw one.”

Yes, I thought that too. And it was a pretty skimpy article too.

I suppose the full results will be reported elsewhere and that this piece is just a teaser.

A good example of why the Founders were wise enough to be selective in who had the right to vote and who did not.

This is a story about some women poorly qualified to make an informed decision but the lesson applies to all demographics.

There are intelligent, thoughtful people, total airheads and the borderline insane everywhere we look.

Let’s everyone stop with the mom-vote bashing. It’s pretty clear from the excuses and comments that these ‘Walmart moms’ are single black mothers who we know already are going to vote overwhelmingly for Obama—as are single black fathers.

My son works at Wal-mart, so he does see the whole picture (and quite a bit of it is not pretty). I shop there, well, with him working there, nearly daily! I do it to get the best value for my dollar, most times, that and Amazon. But, the women picked for this interview are disappointing. Romney has good hair? Really? Obama cares for women because he is surrounded by them at home? Heartbreaking.

Remember, these are undecided women who are only marginally involved in the political process, if at all.

I would expect something this insane from this group as they are completely disconnected from the process. I don’t know if they represent a large number of voters or not.

One of the questions I would have asked is whether they had actually voted in the last election as I suspect that most of them did not. They have no involvement in anything political.

Those welfare/EBT moms, cannot put 2 and 2 together.

Why do they shop at Wal-mart? Most likely, the prices are cheaper. Why are they cheaper? Because, Wal-mart imports a lot of their merchandize from overseas workers, who get paid a lot less than people who would do comparable work here at home. Why does Wal-mart import from overseas plants and overseas workers? Because, the (liberal) government those moms love so much, made it a lot more expensive to produce our own goods and services here at home.

So, those Wal-mart moms/shoppers, are helping Wal-mart to continue importing their goods from overseas, and that’s something that, Obama and the liberals continuously rail against, even though they force the Wal-marts of the world to send those jobs overseas. Ironic and hypocritical, those Walmart moms. But, like many here have already said, those women can’t be bothered to think, or to put 2 and 2 together. They’ll continue being EBT moms and welfare recipients as long as they continue voting for the likes of Obama and the liberals. Chances are that, their offspring will end up in the same situation. But, they’re not smart enough to know any better.

"As one Richmond woman described it, “Romney cut jobs when he was in charge of a factory.”"

I mean, you can look at that statement alone and determine the sort of people they took the quotes from. These are lost voters anyway, you can't bring them back because they are drones, they don't have 2 working brain cells to rub together.

Funny, if they had interviewed my wife they wouldn't be able to publish half of what she said... she is fully aware of what obama is and what he is doing. Of course, she doesn't have much of anything good to say about romney either... and she won't step foot into a walmart; neither of us can stand the smell.

You have to look at the psychology of these women. How do we react when we see the Obamas on another expensive vacation with daughters in tow? Of course with disgust because we know it is costing us millions and they are grifters. How do the women in the study react? “Oh how fantastic that the hard working Obama finally gets a little time to relax with his adorable daughters and lovely wife.” One of these PAC just needs to start running commercials with montages of the Obamas vacations and Obama’s endless golf games. Eventually it will wake them up to the fact that “their” children are not on those vacations and Obama is not going to invite them along. You have to break the spell before they can actually start listening.
