Gov. Walker survives recall in Wisconsin

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won a vote to keep his job on Tuesday, surviving a recall effort that turned the Republican into a conservative icon and his state into the first battleground in a bitter, expensive election year.

Late Tuesday night, Walker held a solid lead over Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D).

For his tireless efforts in rallying and energizing the GOP base and motivating every last Republican to turn out for Gov. Scott Walker today, I would like to thank Bill Clinton for endorsing Tom Barrett!

But even after Clinton's endorsement of Barrett, most of the polls still showed a 'tight' race (a 'tight' race is when the GOP candidate is clearly ahead) and the contest was considered a 'toss up,' but the tipping point in Walker's favor was the moment Obama endorsed Barrett. It sealed the deal and helped Walker become the only Governor in American history to beat back a recall vote! So I'd also like to warmly thank Obama.

Pulling out all the stops on Barrett's behalf, Obama bravely took to Twitter. Waiting until the very eve of the election, Obama offered his full-throated endorsement by tweeting, "I'm standing by Tom Barrett."

Wisconsin Democrats complained bitterly that Obama could have done more, such as stopping by during fundraising trips last Friday to neighboring Illinois and Minnesota. But Wisconsin Democrats have themselves to blame. They could've come up with some creative way to lure Obama, such as a fundraising dinner with cooked Dalmatian on the menu.

Seeking to gently persuade voters to turn out to vote (or else), a union-backed group calling itself the "Greater Wisconsin Political Fund" mailed out flyers containing the names, voting records and addresses of the recipient's neighbors. The thinly-veiled threat from these darling little unionists being, 'Better vote this time or your neighbors will know.' Liberals wholeheartedly embrace these tactics but the same libbie wingnuts get hysterical about laws requiring the registration of sex offenders.

Amid the barrage of 'too-close-to-call,' 'within-the-margin-of-error' stories in the media, perhaps the surest indication that Gov. Walker was going to pull this off was the very last, last, last, last minute revelation by the New York Times that polls showed Gov. Walker ahead.

With Gov. Walker's crushing 54%-46% victory tonight, Democrats haven't been this despondent since the capture of Saddam Hussein. With any luck, maybe Wisconsin Democrats might just flee to Illinois (something about that rings a bell).

Democrats were hoping at least to take out Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, but hilariously fell short there as well. Not that I'm gloating or anything (hahahahahahaha!).

Some Democrats wanted to blame racism for Walker's victory, but Barrett is white. (Maybe they'll find he's 1/32 Cherokee.)

After tonight, it appears that reports of the Tea Party movement's death are greatly exaggerated. If anything's dead, it's the government union parasites. The media expressed shock that voters don't support public unions getting benefits that they don't get. Somehow, taxpayer-funded free health care, free pensions and big-buck cost-of-living adjustments for government unions aren't popular with voters! Already, half of AFSCME's membership is gone in the absence of mandatory union dues. The taxpayer rebellion in Wisconsin was just the warm-up act. Taxpayer revolts will ultimately sweep the rest of the country.

Another thing that died tonight was the media's idiotic polls. "Exit polls show tight race in Wisconsin recall race." That's CNN, just before the polls closed. "Gov. Scott Walker narrowly avoided being recalled Tuesday evening ..." That's the Hill newspaper, just after the polls closed. Obama's campaign bragged that Obama was up by 11, per exit polls. But exit polls had the recall race too close to call. Rumor has it that a far more accurate EXIT POLL is coming in November, when Obama gets EXITED out of the White House.

Anyway, that's ...
My Two Cents...

I love the way the comPost spins this: Walker "survives" his recall election.

By 7 points. "Survival."

“Survives”, huh? Leave it to the Washington Post.
Last I saw, Walker won in a landslide.

By the way, I haven’t seen you around here much the past couple of years..
Good to see your name again.

And, great article, JohnHuang2. You have a delicious way of gloating, without really gloating. That last sentence makes sense to me at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. Please overlook my corny humor, b/c I'm still euphoric, but winding down from this heaven-sent miracle in Wisconsin. Now this is the kind of hope and change I've been praying for......

I was worried about this one. I was afraid voter fraud would put this one in the Evil Wins column.

But when the margin's big enough, their fraud isn't enough.

They're calling it a 7 point win ( 54-46 = 7 ?), but it was probably more like a 9 point win, with 2 points voter fraud.

But with a 9 point spread, you'd have to pull off Mugabe-sized voter fraud to win.

Is that what we're going to see in November?

Yeah... that gets me. Survived? WTH... He kicked ass.

I voted here in Wisconsin yesterday, in a heavily democrat area, and Barrett was thumped soundly!

I have never seen so many new voters that registered and voted. These were business men and blue collar workers. The look of resolve was on their face.

I watch a few moments of MSNBC and they blamed it on United Citizens decison.

Claiming that Walker out raised by 30 to 1.

Never counting the cash the Unions spent as on the Democrat side.

Bragging on Obama had 51% on the exit Polls. ( which people lie all the time , hell in North Carolina Gay Marrage was up by 11 points by PPP polling but people just say they are afraid of confrontation but vote the other way.

As pointed out the catholic vote grew by 8 points for Walker bad news for Obama

You're absolutely right. There's so much here to talk about, but I think what stuck in the craw of most people around here is that unions from outside the state tried to influence what we here in Wisconsin want for out state.

The message to these thugs is stay the hell out of our state and let us decide what we think is best!!!

The Catholic vote will be signicant. As a Catholic I can safely say that we cherish our religious freedom, and don't need some marxist coward telling us how to follow our faith, or live our lives.

I actually saw one guy (who has probably since been fired) allude to the value of the media coverage Barrett basically got for free; he didn’t go so far as to say “free campaign commercials 24/7” but I think that is what he was referring to.

Another disastrous outcome for the Dems in a state won by the Kenyan Pirate in 2008. Another talking head referred to the fact that this was another bad outcome in a Dem state, and that it didn’t bode well for Obama.
